The Xiaomi Redmi 15 5G has the larger stated screen, the higher refresh-rate ceiling and the bigger battery. The Samsung Galaxy F17 5G has an AMOLED panel, a three-module rear camera, a higher-resolution front camera and a longer stated software-support commitment. It was also the cheaper of the two in the Amazon India price snapshot we checked. Which phone is the better buy depends on whether battery and screen size or display type, cameras and years of updates matter more to you. The differences below come from manufacturer specifications and one dated marketplace listing, not from independent side-by-side lab tests.

Display: screen size, panel type and refresh rate
Xiaomi’s Redmi 15 5G product page for India describes a 6.9-inch FHD+ display with up to 144Hz AdaptiveSync and calls it the segment’s largest and smoothest display. That is marketing wording, not an independent measurement. Samsung’s Galaxy F17 5G page for India lists a 6.7-inch-class FHD+ Super AMOLED panel with a 90Hz maximum refresh rate.

Two separate questions sit behind that table. The first is how much screen you get. The Redmi’s 6.9-inch panel is larger on paper, which helps with video and reading. Samsung’s “6.7-inch-class” wording means its exact diagonal is not given as a precise figure on the page.

AMOLED panels generally show deeper blacks and higher contrast than LCD panels, but the official pages do not report brightness, colour accuracy or outdoor visibility for either phone. Treat the AMOLED advantage as a property of the panel type, not as a measured verdict on these two screens.

The refresh-rate figures are maximums. A 144Hz ceiling gives the Redmi more room for smooth motion in apps and games that use it, but the rate actually delivered depends on the content on screen and the system’s power management.
Processor and everyday performance
The Redmi uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 and the Galaxy F17 uses Samsung’s Exynos 1330. The official pages cited here give no benchmark, thermal or app-speed results for either chip, so neither can be declared faster from the specifications alone. If processing speed is a deciding factor, look for independent reviews that run the same tests on both phones, and weigh the results against the things you actually do, such as gaming, multitasking or camera processing.
Cameras: what the module counts do and do not tell you
The Galaxy F17 lists three rear modules, 50MP, 5MP and 2MP, with optical image stabilisation (OIS) on the rear camera. Xiaomi India describes the Redmi 15 5G as having a 50MP AI dual camera, and Xiaomi Global’s Redmi 15 global specifications describe a 50MP main camera with an auxiliary lens.

Samsung’s page does not explain what the 5MP and 2MP modules do, so do not assume they are equivalent to the main sensor. Megapixels and module counts do not show how photos look after processing, and no side-by-side photo or video test was available for this comparison.
The clearest hard difference in the official front-camera specifications is resolution: 13MP on the Galaxy F17 against 8MP on the Redmi. That helps the selfie camera on paper but says little about the final image.
Battery life and charging
The Redmi’s 7000mAh figure is a typical capacity from Xiaomi Global’s specification page. The Galaxy F17’s 5000mAh is Samsung’s stated capacity. A larger battery gives more room for longer use, but no controlled endurance test appears in the official pages cited here. The mAh rating alone cannot establish that the Redmi lasts longer in day-to-day use.

Charging is rated at 33W on the Redmi and 25W on the Galaxy F17. Both are stated maximums, and the pages give no charging-time measurements.
What comes in the box differs between Xiaomi’s pages, and this affects the real cost of the phone. Xiaomi India says the 33W charger is included with the Redmi 15 5G. Xiaomi Global’s specifications say a power adapter is not included and recommend Xiaomi’s 33W adapter, noting that package contents can vary by region. The Samsung India page does not state whether a charger is included. Check the listing for the exact variant before you order.
Software updates and how long each phone stays supported
Xiaomi India states two years of Android updates and four years of security updates for the Redmi 15 5G, as shown on its India product page. Samsung India states six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates for the Galaxy F17 5G. On paper, Samsung’s commitment is longer on both counts.

Neither page, in the text cited here, defines the start date of its support window, so treat both as stated commitments rather than exact calendar end dates. If you plan to keep the phone for five years or more, only the Galaxy F17’s stated security commitment covers that period.

A 91mobiles comparison page, observed on 7 October 2026, showed both phones on Amazon India:
| Phone | Amazon price in the snapshot | Position against the other phone |
|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi Redmi 15 5G | ₹21,499 | ₹1,529 more than the Galaxy F17 |
| Samsung Galaxy F17 5G | ₹19,970 | ₹1,529 less than the Redmi 15 5G |
The gap is roughly 7% of the Redmi listing. It is a marketplace snapshot, not an official price or a guaranteed checkout total. Marketplace prices change with offers, sellers, delivery terms and stock. The cited pages do not give an official Xiaomi India price for comparison.

The Galaxy F17 5G launched on 10 September 2025, according to Samsung India, so it is no longer new. Samsung’s page currently labels the black 6GB/128GB variant “Not for sale”, so do not assume that Samsung’s own store sells it. Whatever you buy, confirm that the RAM and storage variant on the Amazon listing matches the one you are comparing.
Which one to buy
Choose by priority rather than by a single overall winner.
- Choose the Redmi 15 5G if a larger screen, the highest stated refresh rate and the largest stated battery matter more to you than panel type, camera module count and update length.
- Choose the Galaxy F17 5G if you want an AMOLED panel, a three-module rear camera, a higher-resolution front camera, the longer stated support window, or the lower listing price in the snapshot.
Before ordering either phone, work through these checks:

Quick Recap
- Confirm the exact model name, model suffix and RAM/storage variant on the listing.
- Compare live prices on the same day, including seller, delivery charges and any bank offers.
- Check the listing’s box contents to see whether a charger is included.
- Read the current update statement on the official product page at the time of purchase.
- Read independent reviews covering camera quality, battery endurance and performance if those matter to your use.
