The Xiaomi Redmi 15 5G is the stronger specification fit for a larger, sharper, faster-refresh display, a higher stated battery capacity and a published software-update commitment. The vivo Y31 5G lists faster charging and higher IP ratings. The price gap is not settled: seller listings show different configurations and conflicting prices, so compare the same RAM and storage variant at checkout.

What the display specifications mean
Redmi 15 5G has the larger panel and a 2340 × 1080 resolution, compared with the vivo’s 1608 × 720 display. Its refresh rate is also listed as up to 144 Hz versus up to 120 Hz for the Y31 5G. Those figures give Redmi the clear specification advantage for screen size, pixel count and maximum refresh rate.
That is not the whole display comparison: vivo lists 1,000 nits HBM brightness. Brightness, viewing conditions and panel behavior matter alongside resolution and refresh rate, so the figures alone do not establish which screen looks better in every situation.

Battery capacity versus charging speed
Xiaomi lists a 7,000 mAh typical battery and 33 W charging for the Redmi 15 5G. vivo lists 6,500 mAh typical capacity and 6,355 mAh rated capacity for the Y31 5G, with 44 W FlashCharge. The Redmi leads on stated capacity; the vivo leads on stated charging wattage.
These specifications do not establish real-world battery life or a full charge time. vivo says charging power adjusts dynamically and actual use may vary. Xiaomi lists a charger in the box. Compare battery endurance and charging in independent tests if those outcomes are decisive rather than treating capacity or wattage as a direct performance result.
Durability: IP64 versus IP68/IP69
The Redmi 15 5G is listed as IP64, while vivo gives the Y31 5G IP68/IP69 ratings and describes test conditions and cautions in its product material. The vivo phone therefore has the higher stated ingress-protection ratings, but an IP rating is not a promise that a phone is waterproof or immune to damage in every liquid-exposure scenario. vivo says liquid damage is not covered by warranty. See the vivo Y31 5G parameter page for its qualifications.

Performance, memory and storage
The phones use different Qualcomm platforms: Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 in Redmi 15 5G and Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 in vivo Y31 5G. No independent head-to-head performance test is established here, so these names should not be treated as benchmark results or proof of gaming performance.
Redmi offers 6GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB configurations with UFS 2.2 storage. vivo lists 4GB+128GB, 6GB+128GB and 6GB+256GB variants with eMMC 5.1. Match the exact RAM and storage configuration when comparing prices; the two phones do not offer a one-to-one set of options. vivo also notes that available memory may be lower after the operating system and preinstalled apps, and specifications may vary across production batches.

Both phones list a 50 MP primary rear camera and an 8 MP front camera. vivo also lists a 0.08 MP rear sensor. These megapixel figures do not establish photo or video quality, and the extra sensor alone does not make the vivo camera system better.

Xiaomi specifies Android 15-based HyperOS 2 and commits to two years of OS updates plus four years of security updates. vivo lists Android 15 with Funtouch OS 15, but the inspected official material does not state an equivalent update duration. Redmi therefore has the clearer published support commitment in this comparison.
Price difference: compare current, like-for-like listings
A 91mobiles price snapshot accessed on 2026-10-07 showed the Redmi 15 5G at ₹21,499 on Amazon and the vivo Y31 5G at ₹19,999 on Flipkart. These are seller-specific listings, not a verified current price gap; the listed variant and retailer differ. The 91mobiles comparison listing is useful as a dated snapshot, not as confirmation of today’s price or stock.
Separately, vivo’s official store displayed ₹27,999 for a selected Y31 5G 6GB+128GB variant when accessed on 2026-10-07, but marked it unavailable. That displayed amount is not a current purchasable offer. Check the same-day listing for each phone and confirm RAM, storage, seller, stock and bank offers before deciding which costs less. The official listing is at the vivo India Store.
Which phone should you choose?
- Choose Redmi 15 5G based on these specifications if you prioritize a larger, higher-resolution display, a higher maximum refresh rate, a larger stated battery capacity or an explicit update-duration commitment.
- Choose vivo Y31 5G based on these specifications if its 44 W charging figure or IP68/IP69 ratings better match your priorities.
- For value, compare exact variants rather than relying on the headline prices: the available RAM and storage combinations differ, and the cited price snapshots conflict.
This is a specification-based comparison, not a substitute for independent battery, camera, performance or durability testing.
