How the screens compare
The Redmi 15 gives you more screen area and a higher maximum refresh rate on paper: Xiaomi lists a 6.9-inch FHD+ panel with adaptive refresh up to 144Hz and peak brightness of 850 nits. Samsung lists a 6.7-inch-class FHD+ Super AMOLED display at 90Hz. The practical distinction is size and refresh-rate headroom versus AMOLED display technology; a higher refresh rate may not apply in every app.
Battery, charging and what comes in the box
Xiaomi lists a 7000mAh typical battery, 33W charging, 18W reverse charging and a 33W charger in the box. Samsung lists a 5000mAh typical battery and 25W charging, but says the 25W charger is sold separately. The Redmi has the larger stated capacity and includes its charger according to Xiaomi’s specification page. Capacity alone does not establish how long either phone lasts in everyday use.

Camera hardware: OIS is the key distinction
The Redmi specification lists a 50MP AI dual rear camera with an f/1.75 aperture and an 8MP front camera. Samsung lists a 50MP, 5MP and 2MP rear-camera setup, OIS, and a 13MP front camera. OIS is a concrete hardware feature on the M17’s listed camera, but camera counts and resolution figures alone do not establish which phone takes better photos.
Performance, memory and storage
The Redmi uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 3; the Galaxy M17 uses Samsung’s Exynos 1330, manufactured on a 5nm process. Samsung lists CPU clusters at 2.4GHz and 2GHz. These model names and clock figures are not a substitute for controlled performance tests, so they do not support a definitive speed verdict.

Configuration matters when comparing prices or buying: Xiaomi lists 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB Redmi 15 options. The cited Samsung India specification page is for a 4GB/128GB M17 and lists microSD expansion up to 2TB. Check the exact retail configuration rather than assuming every Galaxy M17 listing matches that page.

Samsung advertises six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates for the Galaxy M17; its India page gives September 30, 2031 as the end of the listed security-update period and says the plans may change. Xiaomi lists the Redmi 15 with HyperOS 2 based on Android 15, two years of OS updates and four years of security updates. On the stated commitments, Samsung offers the longer support horizon.

The Redmi is rated IP64, while the Galaxy M17 is rated IP54 and advertises Gorilla Glass Victus. Neither IP rating makes a phone suitable for immersion; the ratings are not interchangeable guarantees of protection under every condition.

There is no stable price winner established by the available listings. Gadgets Now’s comparison result, updated September 2, 2026, showed one listing at ₹21,499 for the Redmi 15 and ₹19,999 for the Galaxy M17, while other indexed comparison variants put the Redmi around ₹17,999–₹23,499 and the Galaxy around ₹17,999–₹22,999. Which is better: Redmi 15 or Galaxy M17?
- Choose the Redmi 15 5G if your priorities are a larger display, up to 144Hz adaptive refresh, greater stated battery capacity, reverse charging or an included 33W charger.
- Choose the Galaxy M17 5G if you prefer a Super AMOLED display, want listed OIS on the main camera, value its lower listed weight or prioritize Samsung’s longer advertised update commitment.
