Archive status (updated September 2026): MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition is a completed 2021–2022 rollout, not an active update program. China devices started receiving it in August 2021; Xiaomi announced the global rollout on August 27, 2021, with initial releases planned for Q4 2021. Eligibility and timing depended on the exact model, market and ROM channel.
Use this page to identify reported device batches, distinguish China, Global, EEA, India and other firmware tracks, and check whether your phone already received the optimization release. For current Xiaomi software support, consult the company’s HyperOS information rather than waiting for a new MIUI 12.5 Enhanced OTA.
What MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition was
MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition was an incremental performance and maintenance release, not a new operating-system generation. Xiaomi promoted Liquid Storage, Atomized (Atomic) Memory and Focused Algorithms, alongside power-efficiency, scheduling and responsiveness improvements. Contemporary coverage reported Xiaomi claims of more than 160 system fixes and 220 system-app fixes, and a claim that performance degradation would remain below 5% after 36 months in Xiaomi testing. Those are vendor claims, not universal independent test results. Android Authority’s launch coverage summarizes the claims.
The release could look almost identical to ordinary MIUI 12.5. A phone could receive a normal MIUI 12.5 build before Enhanced, and some regional changelogs described only “system optimization.” A later MIUI 13, MIUI 14 or HyperOS upgrade could also arrive without the owner ever seeing an Enhanced-branded notification.

Global rollout: first reported batch
Xiaomi’s August 27, 2021 announcement described a Q4 2021 rollout window, not one worldwide release date. The following devices were named in the first global plan. “Planned” means an announced target; it does not prove that every regional variant received an OTA in that quarter. Notebookcheck reported the announcement and list.

The POCO F3 (broadly related to the Redmi K40 and Mi 11X hardware) and Mi 11X were reported as early recipients in September 2021. Hardware equivalence did not make their software schedules identical: certification, carrier approval and ROM region still controlled the OTA. Notebookcheck documented those early reports. The Mi 10 Ultra was a China-market model and should not be counted as a global device.
Reported second batch
Period coverage identified the following devices as a second group. Because contemporary lists mixed official plans with regional equivalents, treat these as reported rollout coverage rather than a guarantee for every Global, EEA, India, Russia, Indonesia, Taiwan or Turkey ROM.

China reporting in November 2021 described a third batch of more than 25 devices, with broader distribution expected in December. These are China-track reports; international variants could use different names, builds or dates. Notebookcheck’s batch report and Gizmochina’s contemporary coverage provide the period lists.

This was an Enhanced-Edition exclusion report, not a complete statement of each phone’s security-support history or ordinary MIUI 12.5 eligibility. Notebookcheck attributed the exclusions to period reporting.

Track the ROM, not just the retail name. Xiaomi issued separate firmware for China, Global, EEA/EU, India, Russia, Indonesia, Taiwan and other markets. A China build arriving first was not evidence that the Global or EEA build had shipped. Imported and carrier-branded phones could follow yet another approval path.

For example, period China Stable examples included Mi 11 Pro/Ultra V12.5.12.0.RKACNXM, Mi 11 V12.5.10.0.RKBCNXM and Redmi K40 V12.5.5.0.RKHCNXM. These examples are regional China packages, not universal versions to install on another ROM channel. The GoAndroid report lists those examples.

How to check whether your phone received it
- Open Settings.
- Tap About phone.
- Tap the MIUI version tile.
- Record the complete build string, including its regional suffix, Android base and Stable/Beta label.
- Tap Check for updates.
The large version number alone may not identify Enhanced Edition. Compare the full build string and changelog with a device- and region-specific firmware record. A screenshot, exact build number and ROM suffix are stronger evidence than a claim that an “Enhanced” banner appeared. Community reports documented inconsistent labels and changelogs across ROMs: one report thread and another regional-confusion thread illustrate why build evidence matters.
If the OTA is missing
- Verify the exact model, memory variant and purchase market.
- Check the MIUI region/ROM suffix rather than relying on the phone’s retail name.
- Use Wi-Fi, charge the battery and reboot before checking again.
- Allow for a staged rollout: “announced,” “rolling out,” “partial rollout,” “one-region availability,” “paused” and “confirmed complete” are different states.
- Do not infer permanent exclusion from one missing OTA. Xiaomi could stage or pause a build, or release MIUI 13 before your device’s Enhanced build.
- Do not install a China, India, EEA or Global package on a different ROM channel.
Manual-installation risks
Recovery and fastboot packages are archival references, not automatic recommendations. Flashing the wrong codename or ROM family can erase data, trigger bootloader requirements, activate anti-rollback protection or leave the phone unbootable. Back up first, verify the exact package and codename, and avoid third-party mirrors unless you can independently verify the file. If you cannot match all of those details, wait for an official OTA or qualified repair support.
Final status
There are no new MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition rollouts to wait for in 2026. The branch was a historical optimization release whose schedules varied by device and ROM. Current Xiaomi software guidance is centered on later MIUI generations and HyperOS; Xiaomi’s public current material is available at mi.com/global/hyperos.
