The Xiaomi Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6 looks like a capable, well-connected purifier, but its room-size figures describe different things and shouldn’t be treated as one universal coverage promise. Xiaomi lists a tested particle CADR of 443 m³/h and effective coverage of 29–50 m²; it separately calculates 87.5 m² at two air changes per hour. A 91mobiles reviewer saw air quality improve in a bedroom, but reported that Auto mode took close to 20 minutes in that setup and that maximum speed was noticeably louder. It is a promising option if its airflow, noise and replacement-filter availability suit your room and region—not a guaranteed fit for every space.
How well does the Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6 clean a room?
Xiaomi’s UK product page specifies a particle clean air delivery rate (CADR) of 443 m³/h, identified as a tested value and attributed to report KJ2025001525E from Guangzhou Institute of Microbiology Group Co., Ltd. Xiaomi also lists an effective coverage area of 29–50 m², calculated using Appendix F.4 of GB/T18801-2002 and a formula based on particle CADR multiplied by 0.07–0.12. These are manufacturer-published figures, not a claim that every room in that range will get the same results under all conditions. Xiaomi UK product specifications.

The same UK page gives a separate figure: 87.5 m² at two air changes per hour, assuming a 2.4 m ceiling. It also says its “fresh air in 3.5 minutes” statement is based on a 10 m² room with a 2.4 m ceiling. Those figures use specific assumptions and should not be substituted for the 29–50 m² effective-coverage range.

Ashish Kumar’s 91mobiles hands-on review, published 21 September 2026, describes testing in a 10 by 15 ft bedroom and a living area extending into dining and kitchen spaces. In the bedroom, the reviewer saw readings move from poor—at times very poor—to excellent, while Auto mode took close to 20 minutes in that setup. The reviewer also noted a 1.5-ton AC in the room, which could have contributed by trapping lint. This is one reviewer’s observation in one environment, not a promised cleaning time for other rooms. 91mobiles review.

Match airflow to your room
Room area alone is not enough to judge whether a purifier will meet your needs: ceiling height affects room volume, and your preferred air-change rate affects the airflow required. Compare your room’s volume and target air changes per hour with the CADR, then consider the speed needed to achieve that airflow. The manufacturer’s effective-coverage calculation and its two-air-changes-per-hour figure are different reference points, not interchangeable guarantees.
Noise and everyday operation
The 91mobiles reviewer found the purifier noticeably louder at maximum fan speed; Sleep mode reduced both sound and display light. BreatheSafeAir reports measurements of 59 dBA at maximum speed and 46 dBA at half speed. Those are that reviewer’s measurements under its own conditions, not Xiaomi ratings or a certified comparison with other purifiers. BreatheSafeAir review.

- Low energy consumption and fast purification: At maximum output, the power can be as low as 27W. 24-hour purification consumes only 0.7kWh. Cleans 517 square feet in 30 minutes.
- 20dB ultra-quiet: In sleep mode, the noise is as low as 20 decibels, and the noise level is 33% lower than ordinary air purifiers. The screen can be dimmed or turned off for better sleep quality.
- Longer filter life and easy replacement: The filter lasts up to 12 months, 2x longer than other air purifiers. Rotate and pull out from the bottom to replace the filter.
- Smart Control: Alexa and Google Assistant voice control functions require the use of a smart voice device. Supports Mi Home App for wireless control. The control device can be turned on/off remotely, which is very convenient to control. and know your filter life
In practical terms, consider whether you can run the purifier at the airflow your room needs without finding the resulting sound intrusive, particularly in a bedroom. A quiet mode may be more comfortable, but the available reviews do not establish how quickly it cleans a room at that setting.
Sensors, filtration and air-quality readings
Xiaomi’s India product page describes monitoring for PM1, PM2.5, dust, temperature and humidity, alongside five filtration stages: a primary stage, high-efficiency filter, activated carbon, UV-C sterilization and negative ions. Feature descriptions and availability can differ by market. Xiaomi India product page.

The on-device sensor and app readings are useful for watching changes, but they should not automatically be treated as calibrated measurements. BreatheSafeAir says the built-in sensor is more useful for tracking trends than as a replacement for a calibrated air-quality monitor. Xiaomi’s UK page attributes selected formaldehyde and TVOC removal results to Guangzhou Institute of Microbiology Group Co., Ltd., report KJ2025001526E; these are manufacturer-presented test results, not independently replicated measurements in the available reviews.
What the Xiaomi Home app can do
Xiaomi says Xiaomi Home can show air quality and filter life, control the purifier remotely and schedule power. The 91mobiles reviewer also reports historical particle readings and useful in-app controls, along with remote operation and filter-health information on the purifier and in the app. However, that reviewer says the app layout could not be rearranged to bring preferred controls forward.

Xiaomi estimates filter life at 6–12 months, with actual duration varying according to use. The 91mobiles review reported an India-market replacement-filter price of ₹1,499 at the time of its 2026 review; that is a dated regional price, not a current or universal cost. Before buying, check the current local price, stock and exact compatible filter SKU. Do not assume a filter for another Xiaomi purifier family will fit.

- Universal standard size, direct replacement for most same-spec air purifiers without modification.
The 91mobiles reviewer describes cleaning the exterior and accessing the air duct and fan blades to remove dust. Follow the instructions for the exact regional model when cleaning, and use the app or on-device filter-health indication to monitor replacement status.
How it compares—and what the published numbers mean
Xiaomi’s UK support FAQ says the Air Purifier 6 adds a PM1 display and UV sterilization compared with the Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4, and describes a longer filter replacement cycle. That FAQ gives the Air Purifier 6 a particle CADR of 420 m³/h, while Xiaomi’s current UK product page lists 443 m³/h as the tested value. The pages therefore present different CADR figures; the available information does not explain the discrepancy, so they should not be silently combined. Xiaomi UK support FAQ.
The available reviews are not a common-protocol, independent head-to-head test against competing brands. For a meaningful shortlist, compare the following for each model and your own room:
- Particle CADR against room volume and the air changes per hour you want.
- Noise at the fan speed needed to deliver that airflow.
- Replacement-filter price, local stock and exact model compatibility.
- Whether the sensor readings are sufficient for trend monitoring or you need a calibrated monitor.
- App controls, scheduling and voice-assistant availability in your country.
Verdict: who should consider it?
The Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6 is worth considering if you want app-based monitoring and control, a broad set of sensors and filtration features, and its published airflow appears suitable for your room. Its manufacturer specifications are substantial, while the hands-on reports point to real-world trade-offs: Auto-mode results depend on the room and conditions, and maximum fan speed may be too loud for some settings. Check the replacement filter’s local availability and cost before committing, and choose based on the airflow you need rather than the largest area figure on the product page.
