The two Xiaomi phones most relevant to gaming buyers in India right now are the Redmi 17 5G at ₹23,999 and the Redmi Note 17 5G at ₹27,999. Those are the listed prices on dated third-party price lists checked on 7 October 2026. Both are listed with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage, but they differ in chipset, display, and battery, and neither price is fixed. Offers, stock, and the final checkout amount change at the retailer, so treat these figures as a starting point rather than a quote.
Listed prices in India as of 7 October 2026
The table below uses the October 2026 list published by 91mobiles, which gives the chipset, memory, battery, display, and charging for each model. The Redmi 17 5G and Redmi Note 17 5G prices also match Smartprix’s Xiaomi price list, which was updated on 7 October 2026. The other three models appear only in the 91mobiles list.

The 91mobiles category page that carries these prices covers 73 phones. The five rows above are a sample from that broad list, not a ranking of the best gaming phones. Xiaomi India’s official phone catalog also lists the REDMI 17 5G and REDMI Note 17 5G, which confirms that both models are in the current range but does not confirm any retailer price.

What each listing means for gaming
Xiaomi Redmi 17 5G (₹23,999)
This is the lower-priced of the two current headline models. Its listing pairs a Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset with a 6.9-inch LCD and a 7,900 mAh battery. An LCD panel and a large battery are useful for long sessions, but the listing does not say how the phone holds performance over a 30- or 60-minute game, and it does not state its refresh rate in the sources reviewed.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 5G (₹27,999)
The Note 17 5G costs ₹4,000 more on the same listing basis. It has an 8,000 mAh battery and a 6.99-inch OLED display. The OLED panel changes contrast and colour, which matters for dark game scenes and video, but it does not change how fast the processor runs. Its chipset is listed as Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, which is a different generation from the Redmi 17 5G’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 5. Model names alone do not tell you which chip will sustain higher frame rates in a particular game, so do not treat the generation number as a performance ranking.
The lower-priced entries: Redmi Note 15 SE 5G, Redmi 15 and Redmi 12
The Redmi Note 15 SE 5G (₹24,999) is listed with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, a 6.77-inch AMOLED display and a 5,800 mAh battery. The Redmi 15 (₹21,499) pairs a Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 with a 6.9-inch IPS LCD and a 7,000 mAh battery. The Redmi 12 with 6 GB RAM (₹9,995) uses a MediaTek Helio G88 and an 18W charger. It is the budget reference point in this group. The listings do not establish how any of these phones performs in demanding games, so they should be compared on price and specification rather than treated as gaming specialists.

Why the chip name and the price do not settle gaming performance
A sustained gaming result depends on how the phone manages heat over time. Most phones run a game at full speed for a short period, then reduce clock speeds when the chip gets hot. That reduction is what drives frame drops and uneven frame times after the first few minutes. The same chipset can behave differently in two phones with different cooling designs, software tuning, or thermal limits.

91mobiles says its gaming roundup considers gaming performance, thermal management, battery life, display quality, overall experience, sustained performance, benchmark scores, thermal efficiency, and frame stability. That is a useful checklist for your own comparison. The listing sources do not, however, provide a model-by-model test table for these Xiaomi phones, so this article does not claim that any model in the table is faster or more stable than another in games.

How to compare these phones before you buy
- Confirm the exact variant. All five listings show 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. Check that the retailer’s product title, memory figure, and storage figure match the listing you are comparing, because retail variants can differ.
- Check the price at checkout. Open the product page on the retailer’s site, add the phone to the cart, and read the final amount. Bank offers, exchange deals, and stock levels change the effective price. Note the date you checked it.
- Read the display specification on the seller’s page. Confirm whether the display is LCD, OLED, or AMOLED, and check the refresh rate separately, because the listings above do not state it.
- Compare battery and charging together. The Redmi 17 5G and Redmi Note 17 5G both list 45W charging, and the Redmi Note 17 5G has the larger battery. A bigger battery does not guarantee longer gaming time, since the chip and display draw the power, but it gives more margin.
- Look for model-specific sustained-performance testing. Find a review that tests the exact model, names the phone, and reports frame rates or temperatures over a sustained session. If no such test exists for a model, treat its gaming suitability as unverified.
Verifying the price on the day you buy
- Use the model number and the storage variant, not just the marketing name, when searching a retailer.
- Compare the listed price with Xiaomi India’s official catalog to confirm the model is current in the range.
- Recheck the price on the day of purchase, because the October 2026 figures are dated snapshots from 7 October 2026.
The price figures and specifications in this article are dated October 2026 listings and may change. Verify them with the retailer before purchase.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. The Bottom Line
For gaming in India in October 2026, the choice is mostly about budget versus display and battery. The Redmi 17 5G at ₹23,999 is the cheaper of the two headline models, while the Redmi Note 17 5G at ₹27,999 offers an OLED screen and a larger battery. Neither listing provides model-specific sustained-gaming test results, so choose between them on price and on the sustained-performance evidence you can verify for each exact model.
