The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is the flagship-tier option, while the REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G is a separate midrange-tier phone. The available listings point to a larger camera system on the Xiaomi and a larger stated battery capacity on the Redmi, but they do not establish which takes better photos or lasts longer in everyday use. Nor do they support a direct price-gap calculation: the Xiaomi figure is for China, while the Redmi prices are reported for Spain.
Which is better: Xiaomi 18 Pro Max or REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G?
They target different buyers rather than offering a like-for-like choice. Xiaomi’s China store lists the 18 Pro Max as a high-end phone with a triple Leica camera system and configurations up to 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage. The REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G’s reported specifications place it in a more midrange position, with configurations up to 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage.

The most useful distinction is what each listing emphasizes: the Xiaomi has substantially higher stated camera sensor resolutions and a rear display, while the Redmi report lists a higher battery capacity. These specifications do not by themselves prove superior photo quality or longer battery life. [Xiaomi China store; Cinco Días]

Which phone has the better camera?
On the listed hardware alone, the 18 Pro Max has the more ambitious camera array: Xiaomi’s store describes two 200 MP sensors and a 50 MP sensor in a triple Leica system. Cinco Días reports a 50 MP main camera and 2 MP secondary camera for the REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G.
Megapixel counts and camera branding do not establish real-world image quality. The cited material does not provide independent photo comparisons, so it cannot determine which phone takes better photos in daylight, low light, portrait mode, or video.

Capacity is not a battery-life test. Screen use, software, chipset efficiency, network conditions, and other factors affect runtime, so these figures cannot show which phone lasts longer between charges. Check the exact regional package for charger inclusion rather than assuming one is supplied.

What is the price difference?
A reliable direct difference cannot be calculated from the available prices because they are for different markets and configurations:
- Xiaomi 18 Pro Max: Xiaomi Community reported a China-market starting price of CNY 6,999 for 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage in 2026. It is not a global retail price. [Xiaomi Community]
- REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G: Cinco Días reported Spain-market prices of €479.99 for 6 GB + 256 GB, €499.99 for 12 GB + 512 GB, and €549.99 for 8 GB + 512 GB in 2026. [Cinco Días]
These figures differ in currency, country, and memory configuration. Compare current prices for the same market and similar storage tiers before deciding which is better value; converting CNY to EUR would not make these listings directly comparable.

Is the REDMI Note 17 Pro the same phone as the Pro Max?
No. The REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G and REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G are distinct models. The India product page and global product page identify the Pro Max variant, and Cinco Días lists the Pro and Pro Max separately for Spain. Do not apply the Pro Max’s specifications or prices to the Pro 5G. [Xiaomi India; Xiaomi Global; Cinco Días]
For clarity, Cinco Días separately reports Spain-market REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G prices of €599.99 for 8 GB + 256 GB and €649.99 for 8 GB + 512 GB. Those are not prices for the REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G in this comparison.

What should you check before buying?
- Confirm the exact model name: REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G is not the Pro Max 5G.
- Match RAM and storage configurations when comparing offers.
- Check the phone’s regional variant, network bands, warranty, and seller.
- Verify current local pricing and launch availability. Xiaomi Community reported the 18 Pro series would be available globally, but its cited post did not give a global date or price. [Xiaomi Community]
- Confirm what is included in the box. Xiaomi cautions that packaging can vary by region for the Pro Max. [Xiaomi India]
