The XGIMI TITAN Noir Max is a premium RGB triple-laser projector built for a fixed home-theater installation, with broad lens shift, high claimed brightness, and serious gaming modes. It costs $5,999 at XGIMI’s US store as of October 4, 2026. Its strongest case is a room and setup that can use its brightness, contrast controls, and placement flexibility; its weaker case is a gaming-only purchase at this price. You will also need an external source device for streaming apps because it has no built-in operating system.
What the TITAN Noir Max is—and what it costs
This is an RGB triple-laser DLP projector with a 0.47-inch SST DMD and 3840 × 2160 output. PC Gamer describes its 4K imaging as DLP pixel shift, so the 3840 × 2160 specification should not be read as a claim that it uses a native 4K imaging chip. XGIMI lists a 110% BT.2020 color gamut, HDR support including Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and IMAX Enhanced, and three HDMI inputs, one with eARC. XGIMI’s US product page has the current specifications and regional listing.

The US store listed the projector at $5,999, its MSRP updated September 1, 2026, with estimated shipment by mid-October when checked October 4, 2026. XGIMI says its Kickstarter early-bird pricing has ended. These are US terms and can change; check the current local listing for price, delivery, and warranty. The US product page showed a 24-month warranty. XGIMI’s April 23, 2026 launch announcement gives the launch context and MSRP information.
How bright is it in real use?
XGIMI rates the projector at up to 7,000 ISO lumens, measured under ideal laboratory conditions in Performance Mode. The company says brightness varies with conditions and recommends other modes for regular viewing. Treat 7,000 as a peak rating, not a promise of calibrated brightness in every mode.

Independent figures vary by measurement method and mode. PC Gamer’s September 4, 2026 hands-on review describes 5,000 lumens as sustained output. Projectorjunkies, in a May 25, 2026 review republished by XGIMI with permission, also gives approximately 5,000 ISO lumens as a more realistic expectation with better white balance and color accuracy than peak operation. In a separate technical review, Passione Videoproiezione measured 6,221 ANSI lumens in Laser 10 Boost mode but warned of high color error; its September 5 update explains why that Boost result was excluded from a home-cinema comparison. It reported 4,755 lumens at Laser Brightness 10. ISO and ANSI measurements, modes, calibration, and test conditions differ, so these numbers are not a direct ranking.
The practical takeaway is that the Max has substantial light output, but the brightest setting may not be the most convincing picture for movies. Choose a mode for the image quality you want, rather than assuming the peak rating describes ordinary viewing.

What the contrast claims mean
XGIMI lists up to 10,000:1 native contrast and up to 100,000:1 dynamic contrast with DBLE enabled. The stated native figure is tied to specific conditions: the iris at f/7.0 and a 0.98:1 throw ratio. The dynamic figure involves processing and is a separate claim, not an alternative measurement of native contrast. The specification footnotes are essential context for both numbers.
These figures do not guarantee a particular black level in every room. PC Gamer found the image excellent once configured, but its review does not establish a universal contrast outcome across rooms and settings. Reflections from walls and other surfaces can lift the apparent blacks, especially when the projector is lighting a large screen. The Max’s contrast potential matters most when the installation and room let the image stand apart from stray reflected light.

- Professional Usage Reminder:Triple laser technology may cause slight speckle or faint RBE visual effect for about 5%-10% of sensitive eyes. We suggest using it with an ALR screen and keeping a viewing distance of over 9 feet for the most comfortable viewing experience.
Will it fit your room and installation?
The Max has a 0.98–2.0:1 throw ratio, optical zoom, and lens shift up to ±130% vertically and ±50% horizontally. XGIMI specifies front, rear, front-ceiling, and rear-ceiling projection. It recommends a 60–150-inch viewing size, although the listed range is 40–300 inches. Maximum lens shift in one axis requires the other axis to be centered, and extreme zoom can reduce usable shift. The projector weighs 8.1 kg (17.9 lb) without its desktop stand, so ceiling installations need a mount whose interface and load rating are confirmed for the unit.
That optical flexibility can make a difficult fixed installation practical, but it does not eliminate the need to plan throw distance and screen placement. XGIMI’s range is a specification, not a guarantee that every combination of zoom, shift, screen size, and room geometry is available at once.

Use optical placement before digital correction
PC Gamer found automatic digital keystone enabled by default during its setup and advises avoiding it when image precision matters. Start by positioning the projector square to the screen, then use the optical zoom and lens shift to place the image. Digital keystone reshapes the image electronically; it is a convenience, not a substitute for correct physical placement. The same review criticized default image processing and motion smoothing in some modes, so inspect those settings and tune the picture to taste rather than assuming the defaults are ideal.
Account for reflected light
PC Gamer reports that light reflecting from room surfaces can be a problem and identifies a dedicated dark room with low-reflectivity surroundings as favorable. A very bright projector can illuminate the screen while also lighting nearby walls and ceiling; that reflected light can reduce perceived contrast. If the room is bright or highly reflective, the Max’s peak brightness alone will not solve the image-quality trade-off.
Best Value
- Multi-angle Rotation: 120° Adjustable Angle. Easily switch your projected image from the wall to the ceiling.
How capable is it for gaming?
XGIMI specifies 1 ms at 1080p/240Hz in Game Mode with auto-keystone off, 2.2 ms at 1080p/120Hz, and 3 ms at 4K/60Hz. It also lists VRR, ALLM, and AMD FreeSync certification. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent latency measurements in this article; the 1 ms figure is specifically conditional on 1080p/240Hz, Game Mode, and keystone being off. Check that your console or PC can output the resolution and refresh rate you intend to use.
The gaming feature set is unusually ambitious for a home-theater projector, but the $5,999 US price is difficult to justify if gaming is the main requirement. PC Gamer argues that the less expensive XGIMI Horizon 20 retains important gaming features and may make more sense for gaming-first buyers. The Max is the more compelling fit when gaming is one part of a premium installation that also values brightness, contrast options, and optical placement flexibility; the available evidence does not establish that it is better overall for every buyer.
Do you need a separate streaming device?
Yes, if you want to run streaming apps: XGIMI explicitly lists “No OS built-in.” The projector has Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and Gigabit LAN, but connectivity is not the same as an onboard smart-TV platform. Connect a streaming player, game console, computer, or other HDMI source for app-based playback. The three HDMI inputs provide room for multiple sources, and one supports eARC.
Who should buy it?
- Consider it if you are building a premium fixed installation, can control room reflections, need substantial optical shift and zoom, and will use its theater capabilities as well as gaming features.
- Look elsewhere if gaming is your only priority and the price matters more than installation flexibility or the Max’s premium theater positioning. The Horizon 20 is a lower-cost XGIMI option PC Gamer identifies as retaining important gaming features.
- Plan for extra setup if you need app streaming, a ceiling mount, or a screen. XGIMI supports ceiling projection, but confirm mount compatibility and load rating; the company recommends 60–150 inches, and the right screen material depends on room light, viewing angle, and image size.
For the right room, the TITAN Noir Max combines high output, adjustable optics, and high-refresh gaming specifications in one premium projector. Its appeal is less convincing when the installation cannot manage reflections, when plug-and-play streaming is expected, or when gaming alone does not warrant the price.
