For most buyers, the XGIMI MoGo 4 is the better all-around portable projector. Its stated 450 ISO-lumen output gives it more brightness headroom, it has two 6W Harman/Kardon speakers, and RTINGS reports better out-of-box accuracy and lower input lag than the Anker Nebula Capsule 3. The Capsule 3 remains the better fit if minimum weight and better dark-room contrast matter more than brightness.
Neither model is a replacement for a bright-room television. They are 1080p battery-powered projectors intended for dim or dark environments. The Capsule 3 in particular performs best when the room is very dark, while the MoGo 4 is the more forgiving choice when some ambient light is unavoidable.

MoGo 4 vs. Capsule 3 at a glance
These are the standard XGIMI MoGo 4 and Anker Nebula Capsule 3 models, not separate laser editions. Both use 1080p DLP imaging, Google TV and built-in Netflix according to their manufacturers. Their brightness figures use different measurement standards, so 450 ISO lumens and 200 ANSI lumens should not be treated as a controlled apples-to-apples laboratory comparison.

Which projector is brighter?
The MoGo 4 is the brighter choice in the available evidence. XGIMI rates it at 450 ISO lumens, while Anker rates the Capsule 3 at 200 ANSI lumens. ISO and ANSI are different stated measurement standards, and the figures come from the manufacturers rather than a same-condition test. Even with that qualification, RTINGS’ comparison says the MoGo 4 is visibly brighter and gives it an advantage when the room is slightly brighter.
Brightness determines how large and watchable the picture remains as stray light enters the room. A dark bedroom, tent or backyard after sunset can work with either projector. A living room with ceiling lights, open curtains or early-evening daylight is more challenging, and the MoGo 4 has more headroom before the image looks washed out.
What Hi-Fi? specifically says the Capsule 3’s 200-lumen output needs very dark conditions to perform at its best. That does not make the Anker unusable; it means placement and light control are unusually important. Close curtains, turn off lamps aimed toward the wall, and avoid projecting onto a wall receiving direct light.

Contrast in a dark room
RTINGS reports noticeably better contrast from the Capsule 3 and says it is a little better in a pitch-black room. Better contrast makes dark scenes look less gray and gives night scenes more depth when the room itself is dark enough for the projector’s black level to matter.
Color and factory accuracy
The same RTINGS comparison favors the MoGo 4 for out-of-box accuracy. That means its default picture is closer to the intended image without requiring extensive adjustment. The Capsule 3 can still produce an enjoyable 1080p picture, but viewers who want a convincing image immediately have the stronger starting point with the XGIMI.
Resolution and screen size
Both projectors are native 1920 × 1080 DLP models, not 4K projectors. XGIMI lists a 40–200-inch image range; Anker lists 40–120 inches. Those are manufacturer-supported ranges, not a promise that every room, wall or brightness setting will look equally good at the maximum. A smaller image generally appears brighter and more concentrated than a very large one.
Portability: the Capsule 3 is substantially lighter
The Capsule 3 weighs 0.85 kg, compared with 1.31 kg for the MoGo 4. The 460-gram difference is significant when the projector is carried in a backpack, moved between rooms or taken on a hike. The Anker’s cylindrical portable-projector design is easier to treat as a grab-and-go device.

The MoGo 4 is still portable, but it is better suited to a small case or a bag with room for its charger and accessories. Buyers who set up at a campsite, travel frequently by air or already carry camera and outdoor gear will notice the lower weight of the Capsule 3 first.
Portability is not only mass. Consider the space needed for a power adapter, a streaming remote, a stable support and any HDMI devices. The MoGo 4’s USB-C PD 3.0 charging can simplify power-bank use, provided the bank meets the projector’s current voltage, wattage and connector requirements. Do not assume that every USB-C battery will power it.
Which has better built-in sound?
The MoGo 4 has two 6W Harman/Kardon speakers, while the Capsule 3 has one 8W speaker. On paper, the XGIMI offers stereo speaker hardware and the Anker offers a higher per-speaker wattage. Wattage alone does not establish perceived loudness, bass, stereo separation or clarity, so it would be misleading to declare a complete audio-quality winner from these numbers alone.
For movie nights without an external speaker, the MoGo 4 is the safer choice because its two-speaker arrangement should provide a more convincing left-right presentation. The Capsule 3’s single speaker keeps the unit compact and can still cover personal viewing, but a larger group may benefit from Bluetooth audio or a separate speaker.
Battery life and charging
Both manufacturers claim up to 2.5 hours of video playback in Eco Mode. This is a maximum claim, not a controlled side-by-side battery test. Brightness level, volume, wireless activity, temperature, app choice and battery age can all reduce runtime.
XGIMI lists a 71.28 Wh battery and up to six hours of music playback for the MoGo 4. The cited Capsule 3 page does not state a battery capacity, so there is no verified watt-hour comparison between the two. If a film runs longer than the practical battery time, plan to use a suitable wall outlet or a compatible power source rather than assuming the advertised maximum will cover it.
The MoGo 4 supports USB-C Power Delivery 3.0. Before buying a power bank, check the latest XGIMI electrical requirements and confirm the bank’s output profile, wattage and cable. A USB-C connector by itself does not guarantee compatibility.

Smart TV, Netflix and connections
Both standard models use Google TV, and both manufacturers say Netflix is built in. That lets you stream from the projector without adding a separate stick, although account sign-in and internet access are still required. Anker’s cited page also lists Chromecast.
The MoGo 4 provides USB-C PD 3.0 charging, HDMI with ARC, a USB port, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1. HDMI ARC can send compatible television audio equipment a signal, while Bluetooth is useful for headphones or a portable speaker.
The Capsule 3 page lists HDMI 2.1 with ARC and Chromecast. The available product information does not establish that every HDMI 2.1 gaming feature is supported; treat the port label primarily as a connectivity specification rather than proof of high-refresh gaming performance.
Gaming and input lag
RTINGS reports lower input lag for the MoGo 4. XGIMI’s published specification lists up to 20 ms at 1080p/60Hz in Game Mode with automatic keystone correction turned off. That is the relevant condition for the stated figure: enabling keystone can change processing behavior and may increase delay.
The Capsule 3’s cited manufacturer page does not provide a comparable input-lag number. It can still be used for console gaming, but buyers who play timing-sensitive games have clearer evidence in favor of the MoGo 4. For either projector, use Game Mode, connect the console directly when possible, and disable unnecessary image-processing features.
Throw distance and placement
Both projectors list a 1.2:1 throw ratio. In practical terms, the lens-to-screen distance is approximately 1.2 times the image width, subject to each model’s optical design and adjustment range. Measure the intended wall before buying instead of assuming a projector can fill any space from any shelf.
For example, a 100-inch diagonal 16:9 image is about 87 inches wide. A 1.2:1 ratio implies roughly 104 inches, or 8.7 feet, from lens to screen as a planning estimate. The exact usable distance depends on the projector’s zoom, focus and placement limits.

XGIMI links a projection calculator from its specification page. Use it with the desired diagonal and available distance, then leave room for airflow, power, HDMI cables and a stable surface.
Keystone correction, focus and image quality
Automatic keystone correction is convenient when the projector cannot sit squarely in front of the wall, but it digitally reshapes the image and can reduce effective resolution or introduce processing delay. The MoGo 4’s 20 ms gaming specification specifically assumes auto keystone is off.
For the cleanest picture, place either projector level with the screen, keep the lens perpendicular to the wall and use a flat, light-colored surface. A portable screen can improve consistency outdoors or in temporary rooms, but it is optional; a suitable flat wall may be enough indoors. No particular screen, stand or generic mount has been verified as universally compatible with these models.

Movies in a dark bedroom
The Capsule 3 is a compelling choice if the room can be made genuinely dark. Its better measured contrast can give dark movie scenes more depth, and its 0.85 kg weight makes it easy to move after viewing. Keep the image size moderate so its 200 ANSI-lumen rating is not spread too thinly.
Living-room viewing with some ambient light
Choose the MoGo 4. Its higher stated brightness and RTINGS’ brighter-room advantage make it more tolerant of residual light. It will not turn a sunlit room into a cinema, but it provides more usable headroom than the Capsule 3.
Camping and backyard use
The answer depends on what “portable” means for the trip. The Capsule 3 wins when backpack weight and compact carrying are the priority. The MoGo 4 is preferable when the campsite has lantern spill, a larger audience or a need for louder, wider onboard sound. After sunset, control nearby light and use a stable, level surface.

The MoGo 4 is the evidence-based pick because RTINGS reports lower input lag and XGIMI publishes a 20 ms maximum at 1080p/60Hz in Game Mode with auto keystone off. Neither is a high-refresh gaming monitor, and the Capsule 3 lacks a comparable published lag figure in the cited material.

Frequent travel
The Capsule 3’s 0.85 kg weight is the decisive advantage for frequent travelers. If the extra 460 grams is acceptable in exchange for more brightness, better default accuracy and stronger built-in speaker hardware, the MoGo 4 is the more capable travel cinema.
Pricing, regional availability and what is not established
Current comparable US street prices were not established for both projectors in the available product information. The Anker source is a Canadian page that displays Canadian pricing, so that number should not be converted into a US price or treated as evidence of current US stock. Check the manufacturer or authorized-retailer listing for your country immediately before purchase.
Also distinguish the standard MoGo 4 and Capsule 3 from any laser-branded variants. Their brightness, weight, battery behavior and pricing can differ, and a comparison of the standard models should not be used to describe those other products.

- Measure the room. Use the 1.2:1 throw ratio and XGIMI’s projection calculator to confirm that the lens can sit far enough from the intended wall.
- Assess light honestly. If curtains and lights cannot make the room very dark, favor the MoGo 4’s higher stated brightness.
- Set a carrying limit. Pick the Capsule 3 if 0.85 kg is materially easier to carry than 1.31 kg.
- Decide whether built-in audio is enough. The MoGo 4 has two 6W speakers; the Capsule 3 has one 8W speaker. Add Bluetooth audio if either setup needs more room-filling sound.
- Check power before an outdoor trip. Both claim up to 2.5 hours in Eco Mode, but real runtime varies. For the MoGo 4, verify USB-C PD 3.0 power-bank compatibility by voltage and wattage, not connector shape alone.
Final verdict
The XGIMI MoGo 4 is the better general recommendation: it is brighter by its manufacturer’s stated rating, receives RTINGS’ edge for out-of-box accuracy and lower input lag, and has two built-in 6W speakers. It is the more flexible option for mixed indoor lighting, group viewing and casual gaming.
The Anker Nebula Capsule 3 is the specialist choice for buyers who value a lighter 0.85 kg package and mostly watch in a pitch-black room. Its stronger contrast in RTINGS’ comparison can make dark scenes look better under those conditions. Choose it knowingly, because the 200 ANSI-lumen rating leaves less room for ambient light and its cited page does not provide a comparable input-lag figure.
The two projectors share 1080p resolution, Google TV, built-in Netflix and a manufacturer-claimed up-to-2.5-hour Eco Mode video figure. The right purchase therefore comes down to the trade-off between the MoGo 4’s brightness, audio and gaming advantages and the Capsule 3’s lower weight and dark-room contrast.
