The XGIMI MIRA is worth considering if you want a short-throw 4K projector with built-in Google TV, integrated speakers, and gaming features—and can use it in a dark or well-controlled room. Its key compromise is brightness: RTINGS found that ambient light can make the picture look washed out. The MIRA’s short placement distance can simplify a room layout, but it is a 4.8 kg, externally powered projector, not a portable one.
What the XGIMI MIRA is
The MIRA is an ultra-short-throw (UST) projector: it sits close to the screen or wall and projects a large image upward, rather than being placed across the room. XGIMI lists an RGB triple-laser light source, DLP display technology, a standard resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels, a 0.175:1 throw ratio, and a supported image size of 80–120 inches. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. XGIMI’s MIRA specifications

XGIMI listed the MIRA at $1,699 on its U.S. product page on October 7, 2026. Price and availability can change, so check the current product listing before buying. That U.S. price should not be assumed to apply in other regions.

How bright is it, and what room suits it?
XGIMI advertises 2000 ISO lumens. That figure is a manufacturer rating, not a promise that the picture will remain vivid in any lighting. In its September 14, 2026 review, RTINGS judged the MIRA’s brightness mediocre in ambient light: the image looked washed out in a lit room, while it did not look dim in a dark room. RTINGS also praised its very good contrast, deep blacks, image depth in brighter scenes, strong out-of-box color accuracy, and quiet operation. RTINGS’ XGIMI MIRA review

That makes room light a central buying consideration. A darkened room is the safer match if you want to appreciate dark scenes and contrast. If you plan to watch with daylight or lamps in the room, do not assume the lumen specification alone resolves the issue; RTINGS’ findings point to a real ambient-light limitation. A UST-compatible screen may be worth considering based on your room, desired image size, and placement, but the cited testing does not establish a particular screen’s performance with the MIRA.
How close does the MIRA sit to the screen?
The 0.175:1 throw ratio and stated 80–120-inch image range indicate that the MIRA is designed for close placement, but they are not enough to determine the exact distance for your setup. Image size and alignment depend on the projector’s position, cabinet height, screen dimensions, and the geometry of the surface. Use XGIMI’s current placement instructions and confirm the intended screen size before committing to furniture or a fixed installation. XGIMI lists auto keystone correction and ISA 5.0 setup and focus features, but no optical zoom; automatic correction should not be treated as a substitute for getting the projector physically aligned.

Screen flatness matters for UST projection, as does matching the screen to the image size and room lighting. The product listing does not establish that a screen is included or that one particular screen is required. Do not interpret the close throw as portability: XGIMI lists dimensions of 122 × 464 × 268 mm and a weight of 4.8 kg, as well as 180 W power dissipation. Manufacturer specifications

The MIRA has promising gaming support, but the headline latency number applies only under specific conditions. XGIMI claims 1 ms at 1080p and 240 Hz with Game Mode and VRR enabled and auto keystone (AK) turned off. Treat that as a manufacturer-stated figure for that configuration, not a universal input-lag result for every resolution, refresh rate, or setup. XGIMI’s gaming specification

RTINGS reports support for 1080p at 240 Hz, variable refresh rate (VRR), and low input lag. Check the resolution and refresh rate your gaming device can actually output, and whether you need keystone correction, before relying on the fastest configuration. RTINGS’ comparison pages indicate gaming advantages over the XGIMI AURA 2 in VRR and refresh rate, but that does not establish a general best-in-class verdict.
What are the smart-TV, audio, and connection features?
XGIMI lists Google TV, Google Cast/Magicast mirroring, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2/BLE, and a 36 W Harman/Kardon speaker system, with DTS and Dolby audio support. Its product listing describes the built-in platform and speakers as a complete entertainment setup; that is vendor positioning rather than an independent endorsement. The included-box list names a Bluetooth remote and two AAA batteries, along with the power cable, external power supply, manual, and warranty card. XGIMI’s product listing

There is a port-count discrepancy worth checking before purchase: XGIMI’s U.S. specification lists two HDMI inputs, one with eARC, while RTINGS’ review describes three HDMI ports, including eARC. Because the sources disagree, verify the port layout on the exact regional model and current listing rather than planning around either count. XGIMI also lists two USB ports, LAN, audio out, and optical output.
What are the trade-offs for movies and TV?
RTINGS’ review is positive about contrast, dark scenes, color accuracy out of the box, and quiet operation, but reports a motion-processing compromise: a setting that removes judder from 24p content reduces resolution to 1080p and does not remove judder from European 25p content. If preserving full resolution or handling 25p material matters to you, that behavior is relevant to the decision.

RTINGS says it purchased and tested its unit. Its calibration page identifies software version V1.6.186, so those review and calibration findings describe the tested software context; they do not guarantee behavior on later firmware. RTINGS’ MIRA calibration settings
Who should buy the XGIMI MIRA?
- Consider it if you want a close-placement 4K projector with built-in Google TV, onboard sound, and high-refresh gaming support, and can control room lighting.
- Think twice if you expect a bright-looking picture in a room with substantial ambient light; independent testing found the image washed out in those conditions.
- Check the installation first if you have a fixed cabinet, a non-flat wall, or tight screen-size constraints. The lack of optical zoom makes physical placement especially important.
- Verify the exact model and region for ports, current price, stock, and service support. The standard MIRA and MIRA Pro are separate products: RTINGS explicitly says its standard MIRA results do not apply to the higher-brightness Pro.
Overall, the MIRA is a conditional fit rather than an automatic recommendation. Its integrated features and short-throw design suit buyers building a tidy home-theater or gaming setup, but room-light tolerance and precise placement should decide whether it fits your room.
