The XGIMI HORIZON Pro XK03H is a convenient 4K projector for a darkened room, with Android TV, automatic setup features and capable built-in speakers. Its limits matter just as much: measured brightness varies by picture mode, black levels are modest, placement is constrained by a fixed 1.2:1 throw ratio, and its low-lag gaming result applies only to Game mode at 1080p/60.
What the XGIMI HORIZON Pro offers
XGIMI’s current US product page lists the HORIZON Pro as model XK03H. It uses DLP with a 0.47-inch DMD and specifies 3840 × 2160 standard resolution, HDR10 and HLG support, and 1500 ISO lumens. XGIMI describes the picture as “true 4K image quality”; that is the manufacturer’s product-page wording, not an independent measurement. The same page notes that performance can vary with configuration, software, applications and environment. XGIMI product specifications

How bright is it, and is it suitable for a living room?
XGIMI specifies 1500 ISO lumens, while ProjectorCentral’s older review reports its own measurements in ANSI lumens. The units and measurement sources are different, so the numbers should not be compared as if they were identical. In ProjectorCentral’s sample, Performance mode reached 1521 ANSI lumens but produced a distinctive green tint. Bright mode measured 1199 ANSI lumens, and Standard, Eye Protection and Custom each measured about 1133 ANSI lumens. These are reviewer measurements, not a guarantee for every unit or current firmware. ProjectorCentral’s HORIZON Pro review

- Professional Usage Reminder：Triple laser technology may cause slight speckle or faint RBE visual effect for about 5%-10% of sensitive eyes. We suggest using it with an ALR screen and keeping a viewing distance of over 9 feet for the most comfortable viewing experience.
For a living room, the key question is how much light you can block. The available review evidence points to better results in a dark room, with limited black depth when compared with high-end TVs. In his September 2022 hands-on review hosted by XGIMI, How-To Geek’s Sascha Brodsky wrote, “However, the blacks don’t look as dark as many high-end TV sets.” That is a reviewer impression, not a lab measurement. ProjectorCentral measured 86.6% brightness uniformity on its sample. It also recorded 34 dB of fan noise one foot behind the exhaust in a room with a 30 dB noise floor. Those readings describe that review sample and test setup; they do not establish performance in every room.

How far away does the HORIZON Pro need to be for a 100-inch screen?
ProjectorCentral’s example places a 100-inch diagonal image about 8 feet 9 inches from the screen. The projector’s fixed lens has a 1.2:1 throw ratio, so confirm the distance for your intended image size and the projector’s actual mounting position before buying. Digital zoom can reduce light output, according to ProjectorCentral, so it is better to plan for the correct physical distance than rely on zoom to compensate for a poor fit.

The official US page gives a 40–200-inch image-size range. That is the manufacturer’s stated range, not a promise that every size will suit every room: brightness, seating distance, ambient light and placement all affect whether the projected image works for your setup.

Are the automatic setup features useful?
Autofocus, keystone correction, screen alignment and obstacle avoidance are designed to make setup easier when the projector is not perfectly positioned. They are useful conveniences, but they do not remove the need to place the projector at a suitable distance and angle. Digital correction changes the image rather than the lens position, and digital zoom can reduce light output.
ProjectorCentral observed that a small bump could trigger automatic correction behavior and that enabling automatic features could add startup time. If you have a stable, dedicated placement, consider whether you need all the correction features enabled; frequent readjustment may be less convenient than a carefully aligned projector.

- Multi-angle Rotation: 120° Adjustable Angle. Easily switch your projected image from the wall to the ceiling.
Is the HORIZON Pro good for gaming?
ProjectorCentral measured 34.6 ms of input lag in Game mode at 1080p/60 on its sample. In other image modes at the same resolution and refresh rate, it measured 118.1 ms. The lower result makes casual or solo play more plausible than competitive gaming, but it is specific to Game mode and 1080p/60; it does not establish latency at other resolutions, refresh rates or firmware versions.

What are the built-in streaming and speakers like?
Android TV and Chromecast built-in are included, along with AirScreen mirroring, so buyers can use the projector without necessarily adding an external streaming device. App availability and compatibility can change over time; the listed platform alone does not guarantee that every current app or service will work as expected.

The two 8 W Harman/Kardon speakers can simplify a setup without a separate audio system. The September 2022 hands-on review praised near-field sound and ease of setup, but that impression should not be read as a substitute for a dedicated speaker setup in a larger room or for viewers seeking more immersive sound.
Is the XGIMI HORIZON Pro worth buying?
The HORIZON Pro makes the most sense for someone who wants an all-in-one projector for a room where lights can be dimmed, has space to accommodate its fixed throw distance, and values fast automatic setup, built-in streaming and integrated audio. Its headline 4K resolution and convenience features are attractive, but they do not make it equivalent to a high-end television for black levels or a dedicated low-latency gaming display.
Quick Recap
- A good fit: darkened-room films and shows, large projected images, and flexible living-room setups where built-in apps and speakers are useful.
- Think twice: bright rooms that cannot be darkened, tight placement with no flexibility to meet the throw distance, competitive gaming, or viewers especially sensitive to black-level performance.
- Before you buy: check the projector-to-screen distance and planned image size, then decide whether the room can be darkened enough for the image quality you expect.
