Xbox’s disc-to-digital feature lets you claim digital access to some Xbox One and Xbox Series X games you own on disc. Insert a supported disc and launch the game; according to reporting on September 29, 2026, participating titles can now be licensed automatically when the disc is inserted. SEGA games have begun appearing, but there is no confirmed complete list of eligible SEGA titles, so publisher participation alone does not guarantee that a particular disc qualifies.
How Xbox disc-to-digital works
Microsoft’s August 26, 2026 announcement describes a process that begins with a supported Xbox One or Xbox Series X game disc: insert it into the console and launch the game to claim a digital entitlement. Microsoft says that entitlement can add digital benefits such as Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Cloud Gaming where those features are supported. The physical disc continues to work as before.

Windows Central reported on September 29 that participating discs could receive the entitlement automatically on insertion, rather than requiring an extra manual step. Xbox engineer Eden Marie also said the feature should be available to everyone, not only Insiders, and noted that a console restart might be needed to enable it. That is a dated rollout report; console behavior and title support may change.
Are SEGA games included?
Yes, some SEGA games have reportedly begun joining the program. Windows Central reported the addition on September 29, 2026, but neither that report nor Microsoft’s announcement supplies a definitive list of eligible SEGA titles. The available information therefore does not establish that every SEGA-published Xbox game, disc edition, or regional release qualifies.

Before buying a disc specifically for digital access, confirm compatibility for the exact title and edition through a current, reliable title-specific resource—or try the disc you already own. The cited sources do not establish an exhaustive official Microsoft compatibility database.
Which games are supported?
Microsoft says most Xbox One and Xbox Series X disc-based games support the feature, with rollout starting with thousands of titles and more to be added over time. “Most” does not mean all, and Microsoft did not give an exact official total in its announcement.

Windows Central reported on September 30, 2026 that the community-maintained XCT.live Disc-to-Digital Database listed 1,578 compatible games. That number is a snapshot from a community database, not an official Microsoft count, and entries may be added or corrected.

Disc use versus digital entitlement
| Option | What it means | What the sources establish |
|---|---|---|
| Keep using the disc | Continue using the physical game disc on a compatible console. | Microsoft says the disc continues to work as it always has after an entitlement is claimed. |
| Claim the digital entitlement | For a supported title, insert the disc and launch the game; recent reporting says the entitlement may be granted automatically on insertion. | Digital benefits may include Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Cloud Gaming where supported. The feature does not make every disc eligible. |
Availability and important limits
Windows Central reported the feature became available to all players on September 29, 2026, following Insider testing. Availability and compatibility can change, and the sources do not detail every account, region, offline-use, resale, or entitlement-transfer condition. Do not assume those conditions—or that a disc from a particular publisher is eligible—without title-specific confirmation.
