What did Asha Sharma say about Xbox being sold?
In an interview with The New York Times, Sharma gave a direct denial: “Xbox is not for sale,” according to GamesRadar+ and The Next Web. Game Developer also reports the denial and attributes it to the same interview.

Sharma reportedly added that Xbox would consider “the right partnerships” and “the right operating model” as part of doing what is needed to set the company up for success. The Next Web also reports her saying, “We’ve got a long way to go with Microsoft, and we’re going to take the long-term view.”

Why did the question come up?
The interview took place amid speculation about whether Microsoft might spin out or otherwise restructure its gaming business. That speculation is background to Sharma’s answer; the cited reports do not say Microsoft announced a sale process or confirmed that a transaction is pending.

The two claims have different evidentiary weight: the sale denial is an answer attributed to the Xbox CEO, while a possible spin-out or sale was reported as speculation. The latter should not be treated as an announced plan.
What does “Xbox is not for sale” mean?
It is a denial that Xbox is for sale, as reported from Sharma’s interview. Her comments about partnerships and the operating model leave room for the company to consider how it works with others or organizes its business; they do not amount to a promise that Xbox’s structure will never change.
