How the April, July, and October announcements differ
These announcements describe different points in the Foundation’s formation and should not be combined into a single membership ledger.

What the x402 Foundation says it governs
The Foundation describes x402 as an open, neutral standard for internet-native payments, with use cases including API monetization, agentic commerce, and paywalled content. It says the protocol supports EVM-compatible chains, Solana, and more. Membership is not the same as technical maintenance. The Foundation’s leadership page assigns marketing, business oversight, and budget decisions to the Governing Board, while technical oversight belongs to the Technical Steering Committee (TSC). It says the Governing Board does not make technical decisions except through work with the TSC. Foundation leadership and governance.
