Wyze Scale BodyScan is worth considering if you want more than a basic weight reading without paying for a premium body-composition device. Its handle and eight electrodes use dual-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) to estimate composition in the arms, legs and torso, while the Wyze app provides the full 17-metric breakdown. It costs $119.98 CAD on Wyze’s Canadian storefront; Wyze announced a USD $79.98 launch price in a June 22, 2026 forum post, so the amount you pay depends on region, date and any current promotion.
What Wyze BodyScan does differently
Most inexpensive smart scales send a small electrical signal through the body only from electrodes under your feet. BodyScan adds a built-in handle with hand electrodes, creating an eight-electrode path through both hands and feet. Wyze says this enables segmental estimates for the arms, legs and torso rather than one foot-to-foot estimate.

The scale uses dual-frequency BIA. That process measures electrical impedance and applies an algorithm to estimate body-composition values. These are not direct measurements of fat, muscle or other tissues, and they should be used to track changes under consistent conditions rather than as a diagnosis.
What BodyScan measures and displays
Wyze lists 17 body-composition metrics. Seven appear directly on the scale’s 4.7-inch LED display; the complete breakdown is available in the Wyze app. The product information supplied for this model does not enumerate all 17 metric names, so buyers should check the current app and product documentation for the exact list and any regional differences.
#1 Best Overall
- Weight can be measured from the scale itself.
- Full body-composition readings require holding the handle and standing barefoot with both feet on the platform.
- Standing on the scale with shoes provides weight only.
- Wyze describes all body-composition figures as estimates for reference, not medical results.
Setup and taking a reliable reading
- Place BodyScan on a hard, flat surface. Carpets and rugs can affect calibration and consistency.
- Install the four included AAA batteries and open the Wyze app.
- Pair the scale over Bluetooth and complete the user profile in the app.
- For composition readings, remove shoes and socks, stand with both feet on the electrodes, and hold the handle as instructed by the app or display.
- Remain still until the measurement finishes, then review the seven on-device values or the complete app report.
- Measure under similar conditions each time—such as at the same time of day and before eating or exercising—if your goal is trend tracking.
Wyze rates the included batteries for up to nine months of use. Actual life depends on weighing frequency, wireless use and battery quality.
Connectivity and household features
BodyScan connects to the Wyze app over Bluetooth. Wyze lists compatibility with Apple Health, Health Connect and Fitbit, allowing supported readings to flow into those services. The scale can automatically recognize up to eight users and also offers one-off guest measurements, so visitors do not need a permanent profile.
Rank #2
- Ideal for Gifting
- Ideal for a bookworm
- Compact for travelling
Dedicated baby, pet and luggage modes extend the scale beyond personal weigh-ins. These modes are useful for monitoring a child, animal or bag, but they do not turn the device into a veterinary, pediatric or luggage-certification instrument.
BodyScan versus Wyze Scale X
Wyze positions BodyScan as a more detailed alternative to the foot-only Scale X. The practical differences are summarized below.
Rank #3
| Feature | Wyze Scale BodyScan | Wyze Scale X |
|---|---|---|
| Electrode design | Eight electrodes: handle plus hand and foot contacts | Four-electrode, foot-only design |
| Body coverage | Segmental estimates for arms, legs and torso | Foot-to-foot measurement approach |
| Body-composition metrics | 17 metrics listed by Wyze | Not stated in the supplied Wyze product information |
| On-device information | Seven metrics on a 4.7-inch LED display; full details in the app | Not stated in the supplied Wyze product information |
| Phone connection | Bluetooth, with Wyze app, Apple Health, Health Connect and Fitbit support | Not stated in the supplied Wyze product information |
| Recognized users | Up to eight, plus guest measurements | Not stated in the supplied Wyze product information |
| Power | Four AAA batteries included; up to nine months claimed | Not stated in the supplied Wyze product information |
| Price | $119.98 CAD on Wyze’s Canadian storefront in 2026; USD $79.98 launch price announced June 22, 2026 | Not stated in the supplied Wyze product information |
The handle does not automatically make BodyScan medically more accurate. It gives the device more electrode contact and more granular segment estimates than a foot-only layout, while the underlying values remain algorithmic BIA estimates.
Accuracy, safety and sensible expectations
Wyze’s own guidance says, “Home-use smart scales are designed for reference.” BIA readings can differ from professional medical instruments or methods because hydration, food, exercise, skin temperature, contact and timing all influence impedance. A single unexpected result is therefore a reason to repeat the measurement under consistent conditions, not a diagnosis.
Rank #4
Use the scale to watch longer-term direction—such as whether a personal trend is moving over several weeks—and discuss clinically important results with a qualified professional. Do not use BodyScan to diagnose a condition, change medication or replace a clinician’s assessment.
Who should buy it?
- Choose BodyScan if you want segmental estimates, an on-scale display, broad household support and syncing with major health platforms.
- Choose a simpler foot-only scale if you only need weight and basic app logging, or if you will not consistently use the handle barefoot.
- Check the price at checkout because the documented Canadian storefront price and U.S. launch price are different currencies and dates, not a single global MSRP.
Bottom line
BodyScan’s strongest budget advantage is its eight-electrode handle-and-platform design: it attempts to show how estimated composition differs across the arms, legs and torso, rather than treating the body as one foot-to-foot circuit. Add 17 tracked metrics, seven visible without a phone, eight-user recognition, guest and household modes, and support for Apple Health, Health Connect and Fitbit, and it offers a substantial feature set for its price. Treat every composition number as a repeatable home-use estimate, however, and use professional testing when medical accuracy matters.
