The Last Man Standing stipulation also allowed WWE to protect Strowman in defeat while presenting Fatu as a durable, high-impact WrestleMania challenger.

The match was not a standard pinfall contest. A Last Man Standing match rewards power, endurance and the ability to keep an opponent down for a referee’s count, making weapons-based escalation and prolonged punishment central possibilities. The winner was scheduled to challenge LA Knight for the United States Championship at WrestleMania 41.
The prediction was correct: WWE’s official WrestleMania preview identified Jacob Fatu as LA Knight’s challenger after Fatu defeated Strowman.
Could Motor City Machine Guns beat #DIY?
Motor City Machine Guns were the pick to defeat Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa of #DIY in the WWE Tag Team Championship No. 1 Contender’s Match. Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin offered a fresher title program for WWE Tag Team Champions Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins of The Street Profits, while the match was also framed as a rematch with a championship opportunity at stake.

The prediction favored novelty and division momentum rather than a decisive gap in ability. Both teams had a credible case, but a Motor City Machine Guns victory created a new matchup for The Street Profits and gave the tag-team title scene a recognizable challenger combination.
Motor City Machine Guns won as predicted. WWE’s official match preview documented the No. 1 contender’s stakes, and WWE’s official April 4 results confirmed the outcome.

Why was Naomi vs. B-Fab important?
Naomi vs. B-Fab was important because the match advanced Naomi’s growing conflict with Jade Cargill rather than functioning as a standalone singles bout. Naomi had attacked members of the SmackDown women’s division who supported Cargill, giving Naomi the stronger storyline position and making a Naomi victory the logical prediction.
B-Fab’s role was to provide resistance while keeping attention on the larger angle. Naomi was being presented as an increasingly dangerous antagonist, so a loss would have interrupted the momentum needed for the Cargill program immediately before WrestleMania 41.
Naomi defeated B-Fab, and the post-match developments continued the Naomi-Cargill story. WWE’s official results also recorded further advancement of the Jade Cargill-Naomi WrestleMania program.
Was Rey Fenix expected to win his WWE debut?
Yes. Rey Fenix was strongly expected to defeat Nathan Frazer in his WWE in-ring debut because WWE typically protects a newly featured signing with an opening victory, especially when the debut is promoted as a showcase. Nathan Frazer’s speed also gave Fenix an opponent capable of matching the pace of his high-flying style.
The matchup was designed to introduce Fenix’s athletic identity immediately while pairing him with a younger, fast-paced wrestler. Rey Fenix won his debut, as confirmed by WWE’s official SmackDown results for April 4, 2025.

What was at stake in CM Punk, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins?
CM Punk, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins were building toward a Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania 41, and the unresolved issue was the favor Paul Heyman owed Punk. Punk had joined The Bloodline for Survivor Series: WarGames, creating an obligation that had not yet been fully collected.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →The WrestleMania match also drew on several overlapping grievances. Punk had eliminated Reigns and Rollins from the Royal Rumble; Rollins had reasons to distrust and resent both men; and Reigns’ conflicts with Punk and Rollins gave the match three interconnected personal histories rather than a simple title chase. WWE’s official WrestleMania match preview outlined the Triple Threat program.
The prediction was that Punk would force a major stipulation or allegiance reveal, most plausibly by demanding that Heyman stand in his corner at WrestleMania. The Chicago setting made a routine promotional exchange unlikely to satisfy the angle’s central question.
That prediction was correct in substance. Punk cashed in the favor by requiring Paul Heyman to be in his WrestleMania corner, then put Roman Reigns to sleep. WWE’s official video of the SmackDown segment shows the confrontation, while WWE’s official results report records the broader episode developments.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How did the episode connect to WrestleMania 41?
The April 4 SmackDown was one of the final major SmackDown episodes before WrestleMania 41, which was scheduled for April 19 and 20, 2025, at Allegiant Stadium in the Las Vegas area. The Fatu-Strowman match directly determined LA Knight’s United States Championship challenger, while the Punk-Reigns-Rollins segment advanced one of the event’s most prominent non-title matches.
The episode also affected other WrestleMania programs. WWE’s official results documented developments involving Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill and Naomi, and Kevin Owens’ withdrawal from his planned WrestleMania match with Randy Orton because of a neck injury. Those developments were part of the confirmed historical episode, not part of the original prediction slate.
