“WoW Classic Plus” is the shorthand many readers use for Blizzard’s newly announced project, but Blizzard’s official name for it is World of Warcraft: Forever. Blizzard describes Forever as a permanent experience set after Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core. Players return to the original continents, adventure to level 60, and then continue into new stories, experiences, and updates. The announced launch date is November 4, 2026; access is included with a World of Warcraft Subscription or Game Time.
What is WoW Classic Plus?
In current official material, “Classic Plus” is not the product name. Blizzard calls the new experience World of Warcraft: Forever. The distinction matters when looking up launch details, editions, or future announcements: Forever is the name Blizzard has announced, while Classic Plus is a reader-friendly label for an idea of Classic WoW that adds new content and systems.

Blizzard positions Forever as a permanent home alongside modern World of Warcraft and existing Classic experiences. Its announcement describes a return to the original continents and a starting point in the story after Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom but before Molten Core. The company says the experience is intended to put the world, community, and journey at the center. That describes the project’s direction, not a complete specification of its rules or future content.

How does progression work?
Reach level 60, then continue into new material
Blizzard says players will adventure to level 60 and then continue with new stories, experiences, and updates. That is the announced shape of progression: a journey through the original world toward level 60, followed by further content rather than an experience described solely as a replay of existing Classic-era material.
The announcement does not establish a post-launch content calendar, the order or size of future updates, or a specific endgame schedule. It also does not say that level 60 is the permanent maximum level for all future play. The careful answer to “Can I keep progressing past level 60?” is therefore: Blizzard has said the adventure continues after reaching level 60, but has not specified whether that means additional character levels, new forms of progression, or both. Do not treat level 60 as a confirmed permanent cap—or assume a higher cap—based on the overview alone.
Account-wide advancement through Legacy
Forever’s Legacy system is described as granting account-wide benefits as characters progress through their adventures. Blizzard’s product-page wording is: “WoW: Forever’s Legacy system rewards account-wide benefits every time you progress a character’s adventure.” In practical terms, Blizzard is presenting Legacy as a system in which progress made by a character can matter beyond that one character, rather than a strictly character-contained reward structure.

Those details are important to judging how much Legacy changes the experience, and remain unspecified in the announced overview. It is possible to identify the account-wide design goal without claiming particular rewards or advantages.

Which new races and class combinations are announced?
Blizzard’s overview names the Skyborne as a new race. It also specifically calls out two new race-class combinations: Forsaken Paladin and Dwarf Shaman. These are the character options explicitly highlighted in the available announcement; they should not be taken as a complete race-class compatibility list.
| Announced option | What Blizzard has stated |
|---|---|
| Skyborne | A new race; additional details and its complete class availability are not stated in the overview. |
| Forsaken Paladin | Named as a new race-class combination. |
| Dwarf Shaman | Named as a new race-class combination. |
The overview does not provide the full race-class matrix, restrictions, starting details, or a complete description of the Skyborne. Players choosing a character should wait for a detailed official character-creation guide rather than infer that every race can choose every class or that these three announcements exhaust the new options.
Are classes and specializations changing?
Yes. Blizzard says classes and specializations are being revamped and encourages players to choose a familiar class or try another. That indicates more than simply adding the two named combinations: class and specialization design is part of Forever’s announced changes.

It is not enough information to determine whether a familiar class will play similarly to its counterpart in another Classic mode, or to recommend a class based on detailed mechanics. Treat “revamped” as confirmation of planned class work, not as a published patch-note-level description.

What else is changing besides characters and classes?
Blizzard also names Camping, Professions, and Honor as systems receiving updates. The announcement signals that these areas are in scope, but does not explain their revised rules. It does not state what camping entails mechanically, which profession recipes or progression systems will change, how Honor rewards or ranks will work, or what numerical tuning will apply.
This distinction helps separate announced categories from confirmed mechanics. A player can reasonably expect these systems to receive attention in Forever; they cannot yet plan around particular rewards, costs, schedules, or competitive rules based on the overview. Exact details require later official system information.
How is Forever different from Season of Discovery and Anniversary Classic?
Forever is not simply another name for either existing mode. Blizzard’s support descriptions distinguish Season of Discovery from Anniversary Classic, and its Forever announcement gives the new experience a separate product identity and a different set of announced features. The available descriptions support a high-level comparison, not a full mechanical one.

| Mode | Officially described identity | Progression and additions stated in the available material |
|---|---|---|
| World of Warcraft: Forever | A new permanent experience announced as a home alongside modern and Classic WoW. | Returns to the original continents, reaches level 60, and continues into new stories, experiences, and updates. Announces Skyborne, two new race-class combinations, class and specialization revamps, and account-wide Legacy benefits. |
| Season of Discovery | Blizzard describes it as the original WoW experience with new content. | Blizzard’s launch announcement identifies Rune Engraving, class-altering abilities, new endgame activities, and phase-specific level caps and content. |
| Anniversary Classic | Blizzard describes it as the original experience within a specific time period. | The cited support description does not specify the additional systems or progression details listed for Forever or Season of Discovery. |
The clearest distinction is the design being announced. Season of Discovery adds content and class-altering abilities within its phase-based structure. Anniversary Classic is described around the original experience and a specific time period. Forever is presented as a permanent, continuing experience with its own story placement, new character options, revamped classes, and account-wide Legacy system.

Those broad differences do not answer every practical comparison. The current descriptions do not establish how Forever’s endgame will compare with either mode, whether any existing content will be reused or reworked, or how often new updates will arrive. Avoid assuming that Forever is a renamed Season of Discovery, a direct continuation of Anniversary Classic, or a particular expansion-style progression model.

Blizzard’s announcement says access to Forever at launch is included with a World of Warcraft Subscription or Game Time. On that basis, an optional upgrade is not presented as a requirement to play the base experience. The purchase announcement describes upgrades as offering additional benefits, and ties beta access to eligible editions. Those are separate purchase benefits, not evidence that every player must buy an upgrade for launch access.
Because package terms and beta eligibility can change, check the live Blizzard purchase page before buying. In particular, distinguish the announced subscription-or-Game-Time requirement for launch from edition-specific bonuses or early access claims. The cited material does not establish current beta availability or every edition’s terms as of October 13, 2026.

Is there a Collector’s Edition?
Blizzard has announced a physical World of Warcraft: Forever Collector’s Edition through the Blizzard Gear Store. Blizzard describes it as including physical keepsakes and a digital code for the Warcraft Forever Collection. This is an optional collector-focused product, not a stated requirement for access to the game.

The announcement does not confirm an Amazon listing or availability through other retailers. It also does not provide enough information here to establish current stock, price, or shipping terms, so verify those directly with the retailer before making a purchase.
What has Blizzard not specified yet?
The overview establishes the project’s name, broad setting, level-60 journey, some new character options, and several systems slated for changes. It is not a complete game guide. The following details remain unestablished by the cited announcements:
- The full release roadmap, post-launch update cadence, and endgame schedule.
- Whether progression after level 60 includes character levels, other advancement systems, or both.
- The exact Legacy benefits, unlock criteria, and numerical effects.
- Detailed class and specialization changes, including abilities and balance tuning.
- The full race-class matrix and the Skyborne’s detailed options.
- The revised mechanics for Camping, Professions, and Honor.
- Current beta access availability and all current edition-specific purchase terms.
These are meaningful open questions, not evidence that the features will or will not work in a particular way. Until Blizzard publishes the relevant details, the most reliable way to describe Forever is by the features Blizzard has actually named rather than by assuming familiar systems will remain unchanged.
