World of Warcraft: Forever replaces the old realm-relative PvP ranking race with seasonal Rank Points and weekly rank ceilings. That makes progress more structured and removes the need to outrank other players on your realm, but it does not remove the grind: the current rank guide reports that Rank 14 is gated until week 10 or later. The system gives more players a clearer route toward faction titles such as Grand Marshal and High Warlord, not a guaranteed quick path to them.
What changed about the PvP rank grind?
In the old system, rank depended on your standing relative to other players on your realm. Forever instead uses personal Rank Point thresholds: you earn points to advance, and your rank is not determined by how many points other players have. Icy Veins’ guide, updated September 19, 2026, describes the seasonal system and says rank progress does not decay week to week during a season. Points reset between seasons. Rank Points determine rank progression; Honor is the currency used to buy PvP items. The two are separate, so spending Honor on gear does not spend Rank Points. Reaching a rank grants its title and unlocks vendor access, while material rewards are purchased with Honor, according to the current Icy Veins guide.

There are 14 ranks, with different titles for Alliance and Horde. The ladder runs from Private for the Alliance and Scout for the Horde to Grand Marshal and High Warlord at the top. Rank 14 requires 24,750 total Rank Points in the guide’s current table. That threshold is a point target, not an estimate of hours played.
How long does Rank 14 take?
The current Icy Veins guide reports Rank 3 as the maximum rank for week one and Rank 14 as available in week 10 or later. It identifies those weekly caps as datamining-based, so treat them as the guide’s current reported pacing rather than a permanent guarantee. Rank 14’s 24,750-point threshold and the weekly ceiling answer different questions: one is the total points listed for the rank, while the other limits how quickly players can advance.

The guide does not establish a confirmed season length, so there is no reliable basis here for giving a precise number of weeks to finish a season or a typical number of hours needed to reach Rank 14. The practical takeaway is that the top title is paced across multiple weeks, even for players who earn points consistently.
Can casual players earn PvP titles?
The point-based system removes the need to beat other players’ realm standings, which makes the path more predictable than a realm-relative race. It does not establish that every casual player will reach Rank 14: the sources provide no dependable playtime estimate, completion rate, or definition of “casual.” Your attainable rank depends on how much progress you make within the weekly limits and how long you keep playing across the season.

So “normal people can have fancy titles” works as an accessible way to describe the design change, not as a promise that the top title is easy or available on any timetable. Lower ranks and their titles are part of the same progression; the top faction titles still sit at the end of a multiweek climb.

No. The PvP overview says battlegrounds are open to players from other rulesets too. Choosing the PvP ruleset mainly changes open-world exposure: it automatically flags you for PvP in contested or enemy zones.
