The October 13, 2026 announcement also introduced Sana Concierge, an employee service agent for HR and IT requests. The two offerings have different rollout statuses: Workday says the new Home is available now, while Concierge is in early access with general availability expected in the first quarter of 2027.
What Workday announced
The change puts Sana at the center of the Workday employee experience. Rather than navigating only through conventional pages and menus, employees can prompt the interface in natural language. Workday says Sana can coordinate Workday agents across human resources, finance, and information technology, surfacing relevant tasks, decisions, meetings, and agent activity.

The company describes the interface as adaptive to the task. Depending on a request, it may present a form, calendar, approval card, visualization, or other interactive element. Workday’s examples include viewing a paycheck’s amount and date or using a calendar to schedule something or request leave. These are descriptions from Workday, not independently verified results across customer deployments.
Workday chief AI officer Joel Hellermark summed up the company’s positioning with the phrase “AI is the new UI.” That is an executive statement about product direction, not evidence that every employee workflow will move to conversational interaction.

What Sana Concierge is designed to do
Sana Concierge is a service agent for employee requests involving HR and IT. Workday says it combines earlier self-service capabilities and Sana for IT Service Management with Workday Help and Case Agent.
Examples in the announcement include onboarding, offboarding, leave, payroll questions, password resets, and application access. Workday says Concierge can handle routine requests and pass a case to a specialist when judgment is needed, including the case history and recommended next steps. The announcement does not establish how consistently those handoffs or answers will work in every organization.

Availability: Home is available; Concierge is still rolling out
| Offering | Status announced October 13, 2026 | What organizations should know |
|---|---|---|
| Sana as Workday Home | Available now, according to Workday. | Administrators choose when to enable it and whether to make it the default experience. |
| Sana Concierge | Available to early adopter customers. | Workday expected general availability in the first calendar quarter of 2027; this is a company plan, not a guaranteed date. |
Availability does not by itself establish that a feature is enabled for a particular tenant, included in a customer’s agreement, or connected to all the systems that customer uses. Administrators should confirm deployment details and current terms with Workday.

The October announcement follows Workday’s acquisition of Sana, completed on November 4, 2025. At the time, Workday said it would combine Sana’s AI-powered search, agents, and learning products with Workday data and context. It described Sana Agents as supporting no-code agent creation and Sana Learn as an AI-native learning platform. Those descriptions represent Workday’s strategy and product claims.

On March 17, 2026, Workday introduced Sana for Workday, Sana Self-Service Agent, and Sana Enterprise as products available to customers worldwide. The launch grouped capabilities under four labels:
- Find: Answer questions using company knowledge and Workday data. Workday’s example was, “How many vacation days do I have left?”
- Act: Carry out tasks across connected systems.
- Build: Create items such as dashboards and summaries.
- Automate: Set up multi-step workflows.
Workday said the Self-Service Agent launched with more than 300 skills across pay, time, and absence. That is a company-reported product count at launch; it does not measure adoption, accuracy, or employee benefit.

What Workday says about permissions and human review
Workday says Sana combines AI reasoning with deterministic business processes, and that actions operate within an organization’s policies, permissions, and approval processes. Its October announcement says people are brought in when judgment or approval is required. In the Concierge example, a specialist receives case history and recommended next steps when human judgment is needed.

These are Workday’s descriptions of its design and governance approach, not independent certification of safety, security, accuracy, or effectiveness. The March launch also said Sana runs within Workday’s security, permissions, and audit framework. For an actual deployment, organizational buyers should establish:
Best Value
- Which actions the agent is allowed to perform, and which require approval.
- Which Workday and third-party systems and data sources are connected.
- How administrators review and audit agent activity.
- How cases are escalated when an answer is uncertain or a decision needs human judgment.
- What usage limits and commercial terms apply to the organization’s agreement.
Access and cost depend on the customer’s Workday arrangement
In March 2026, Workday said Sana for Workday and Sana Self-Service Agent were available to Workday customers through Flex Credits, without an extra license or separate paywall. The same release said Sana Enterprise was available with Workday HCM or Financial Management and through Flex Credits. Those statements do not specify a universal credit allowance or total customer cost. The applicable terms depend on each organization’s Workday arrangement and current contract.
What is—and is not—established so far
The announcement describes a substantial shift in how Workday wants employees to interact with its software: a central home that uses natural-language prompts and coordinates agents, alongside a service agent aimed at HR and IT requests. But availability and product descriptions are not the same as independent evidence of performance. The official materials cited here do not provide an independent study, audited Sana adoption dataset, or comparative benchmark for accuracy, time saved, or customer outcomes.
Workday’s October release says more than 11,500 organizations worldwide and more than 65% of Fortune 500 companies trust Workday. Those are company-wide corporate scale claims, not figures for Sana adoption or effectiveness. Customers evaluating the rollout should focus on their own enabled features, connected data, approval controls, audit needs, and contractual usage terms. Workday also cautions that unreleased services and features may change and advises customers to base purchasing decisions on currently available features.
