Those are different jobs, and the available product documentation supports comparing them by function—not naming or ranking eight verified plugins.
Start with the cart WooCommerce already provides
Before installing an extension, check whether WooCommerce’s built-in Cart and Checkout blocks meet your needs. The Cart block lets shoppers review items, change quantities, remove products, review shipping options, and apply coupons. See the WooCommerce Cart block documentation.

WooCommerce says stores started after the release of version 8.3 in November 2023 default to Cart and Checkout blocks when using a block theme. Its customization documentation also describes a Mini-Cart drawer template part. Check the Cart and Checkout customization guide to see how those native options fit your theme.
Choose by the problem you need to solve
| Store need | Product category | What to evaluate |
|---|---|---|
| Let shoppers view and manage the active cart without navigating away | Side cart or drawer | Drawer versus popup, auto-open behavior, cart controls, checkout access, coupons, and whether it replaces the cart page |
| Guide shoppers through a structured checkout journey | Checkout funnel | How the funnel changes the purchase flow and which cart or checkout functions it includes |
| Follow up when shoppers leave without buying | Abandoned-cart recovery | When cart details are captured, which follow-up channels are supported, automation and integrations, privacy controls, and reporting |
A side cart changes how shoppers interact with an active cart. Recovery software tracks abandoned carts and sends follow-up communications. These categories are not interchangeable, so a recovery tool should not be presented as a direct substitute for a cart drawer.

Side-cart and drawer options
WooCommerce Side Cart & Checkout
WooCommerce’s documentation describes a side panel or centered popup, automatic opening after a product is added, optional checkout in the popup, and settings to skip or replace traditional cart and checkout pages. Documented cart controls include quantity pickers, prices and subtotals, product images, removal, shipping information, coupons, and product recommendations. Styling options include cart and button colors. The Side Cart & Checkout documentation describes these settings; it does not establish that they improve usability or conversion.
This option is worth evaluating if you want cart controls and checkout access in one overlay. Check whether the documented layout and replacement settings match your theme and checkout setup before enabling them.
Rank #2
FunnelKit Cart
FunnelKit describes its Cart as a sliding side cart intended to replace the standard WooCommerce cart page. Its documentation covers visibility and position, heading, auto-open behavior, coupons, summary, checkout, and empty-cart behavior. The FunnelKit Cart guide explains those settings.

FunnelKit’s documentation index also lists express checkout, upsells, rewards, styling, cart-menu settings, and cart upsell analytics. Treat these as documented capabilities to verify against your intended setup, not evidence that the cart will increase sales. See the FunnelKit documentation index.
Rank #3
Checkout funnels and abandoned-cart recovery
CartFlows
CartFlows’ documentation index separates CartFlows, Modern Cart, and Cart Abandonment Recovery. Its WordPress.org listing describes the companion recovery plugin as sending timed email sequences to shoppers who leave checkout without completing a purchase. That makes CartFlows relevant when your scope includes checkout flows or recovery, but the cited documentation does not establish that the overall product is a like-for-like replacement for every side-cart plugin. Consult the CartFlows documentation and its WordPress.org listing for the relevant product scope.
CartBounty
CartBounty’s knowledge base describes abandoned-cart recovery through email, messages, and notifications, and lists tools such as early capture and exit intent. The page says it was last updated three years ago, so its current features, compatibility, and pricing should not be assumed from that documentation. Review the CartBounty knowledge base and verify present-day details before choosing it.
How to compare candidates before installing
- Define the job. Decide whether you need an active-cart drawer, a checkout funnel, abandoned-cart follow-up, or a combination. Keep each product category distinct when comparing options.
- Check the exact cart behavior. For a drawer, verify layout, auto-open, checkout access, cart-page replacement, quantity and removal controls, coupons, product recommendations, and any upsells or rewards you need.
- For recovery, inspect the full follow-up path. Confirm when cart information is captured, which channels and integrations are available, how automation is configured, what privacy controls exist, and what reporting is provided.
- Verify current product details. Check each candidate’s official page or WordPress.org listing for supported WordPress and WooCommerce versions, release and update history, support, and current price and licensing terms. Those details are not established consistently for the products covered here.
- Test in your own store setup. Confirm the extension works with your theme and checkout configuration, then check the shopper journey from adding an item through checkout. The available documentation describes features, not independent performance results.
Why this is not an eight-plugin ranking
A defensible eight-product shortlist requires current, comparable information about each candidate’s identity, product scope, compatibility, release status, and price. That information is not established for eight products here. The documented options instead cover WooCommerce’s native cart, two side-cart products, and adjacent funnel or recovery tools.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsNo independent comparison results establish that one of these options converts better or recovers more revenue. Treat vendor feature descriptions as descriptions of functionality, not proof of sales impact. A useful choice depends on the specific cart or follow-up behavior your store lacks and whether the extension currently supports your setup.
