AI Media Analysis examines video and image assets for subjects, scenes, locations and actions. It creates tags, descriptions and scores, giving an editor searchable metadata instead of requiring a manual review of every clip. This is most useful when a project contains many recordings and the desired shot is defined by what appears in it rather than by its filename.

Keeping a moving subject in frame
Camera Tracking follows a person, pet, product or custom target and keeps that target in frame without manually drawing keyframes. A product demonstration, talking-head clip or moving presenter can therefore be reframed around the selected subject. The editor still needs to check the track and adjust the result when the target is obscured or leaves the shot.
Correcting captions and transcripts
Smart Text Correction identifies supported speech-to-text and caption errors and can fix them with one click. Wondershare describes support for names, specialist terminology and multilingual subtitle issues. It is a correction aid, not a guarantee that every transcription, proper noun or translation is accurate, so a final read-through remains necessary.

Reframing 360-degree video
360° Video Reframing lets an editor change viewing angle, perspective and camera movement, then convert the immersive recording into a standard timeline-ready video. That makes one 360-degree capture usable for a conventional rectangular deliverable without manually rebuilding the camera path from scratch.
Changing color in a selected area
Color Mask applies adjustments to a face, sky, background or another chosen region while leaving the rest of the image untouched. Masks can be created with a shape, the Pen tool or AI selection. This is suited to localized corrections such as changing a sky’s tone or balancing a face without shifting the entire frame.

What changed from Filmora 15
Wondershare’s version comparison lists AI Media Analysis and Smart Text Correction as new AI tools in Filmora 16. It also identifies Color Mask, 360° Video Reframing, Multi-Source Recording, Track Matte, Subtitle Track and Game Recording among the version differences. Whether an upgrade is worthwhile depends on which of those tasks occupies time in your projects; the comparison does not establish a universal editing-time saving.

A launch announcement dated October 9, 2026 says the release is intended to reduce time spent organizing footage and performing complex operations. That is the vendor’s positioning, not an independently measured productivity result. No authoritative percentage reduction in editing time is established, so claims about speed should be treated as capability descriptions rather than guarantees.
Platforms, free use and export watermark
Filmora is listed for Windows, macOS, Android, iOS and iPadOS. Users can try the editing tools for free, but exports from the free version include a Filmora watermark. Paid plans remove the watermark. Check the current regional shop for availability and terms before purchasing, because bundles and prices change by market.

Upgrade and license rules
Wondershare support says purchase options are available for Windows and Mac and that upgrade eligibility depends on the license type. Subscriptions and some lifetime plans receive free upgrades. Older perpetual licenses can instead require a discounted paid upgrade, and the support information describes a seven-day trial before an upgrade purchase. Confirm your existing license in the account or support portal before assuming Filmora 16 is included.
