When choosing women’s scrub tops, compare the exact fabric blend, pocket layout, fit information, and garment-specific washing instructions. No single fiber blend or pocket count is best for every wearer; the right choice depends on what you carry, how the top needs to move, and how you can care for it.
How to compare scrub tops
Start with the individual product listing rather than broad labels such as “stretch” or “multiple pockets.” Record the fabric percentages, pocket locations and divisions, fit details, and care directions. Those specifications let you compare what the seller actually lists without assuming that a particular blend or design performs better in every workplace.

Scrub tops can use quite different blends. For example, FITScrubs lists the Evrpur 2.0 main fabric as 73% polyester, 13% ZincThread, and 13% spandex, with pocket fabric of 91% polyester and 9% spandex (FITScrubs Evrpur 2.0). Barco lists its Grey’s Anatomy by Barco Emma top as 74% polyester, 23% rayon, and 3% spandex (Barco Emma). Jockey lists 74% polyester, 20% viscose, and 6% spandex (Jockey scrub top), while MediScrubs lists 70% polyester, 25% cotton, and 5% spandex for its four-pocket top (MediScrubs four-pocket top).

These percentages are useful for identifying what a garment is made from. They do not, by themselves, establish which top feels cooler, lasts longer, cleans more easily, or is more comfortable. Barco also describes the Emma fabric as spandex-stretch and lists soil-release and wrinkle-release features; those are manufacturer claims, not independently established results.
Look at pocket placement and organization
A headline pocket count can hide meaningful differences in layout. The listed designs include a single pocket, four pockets, and pockets with additional internal divisions:

Check the chart for the exact garment and compare your measurements with it. A fit label or garment length can add context: Barco identifies the Emma as a classic fit and lists a 26-inch center-back length for size small (Barco Emma). That measurement applies to that listed size and model, not to other tops.

MediScrubs advises customers who fall between measurements to go up a size for movement and comfort, and also advises sizing up when measurements exceed its chart (MediScrubs size chart). Treat that as guidance for its sizing system rather than a rule for every brand. If ordering online, check the seller’s return or exchange terms before buying.
