Set up an OBS stream from your computer
OBS is the do-it-yourself option when you can leave a suitable computer running. YouTube requires an encoder to use the stream server URL and stream key associated with the broadcast. Menu names can vary by software version, so use YouTube Live Control Room as the source for those credentials.

If this is the channel’s first live stream, YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours. Allow for that before scheduling a launch.
- Create or schedule a stream in YouTube Studio. Open Live Control Room and locate the stream’s server URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: do not share it publicly, and reset it if it is exposed.
- Configure OBS. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select the YouTube service and enter the stream key, or configure the server URL and key if using a custom RTMP service option. Use YouTube’s current encoder guidance for resolution and bitrate; the sources here do not establish a universal recommended bitrate for every resolution and frame rate.
- Build the program. Add your prepared bhajan video or playlist as the media source, configure looping as needed, and check that video and audio continue through the end of each item. For long unattended playback, test the entire playlist path rather than assuming that one successful start proves the loop will recover correctly.
- Start a private or unlisted test. Confirm the preview, audio levels and stream health in Live Control Room before making the stream public. Monitor the test for transitions, silence, freezes and dropped connections.
- Plan for the local failure points. Keep the computer powered, prevent sleep or restart interruptions, use a stable network connection, and arrange monitoring. A local encoder depends on all of these; OBS being free does not remove the operating cost of keeping the system online.

Check rights before scheduling bhajans
Devotional subject matter alone does not establish permission to stream a particular recording. Confirm rights for each recording and composition, and for any included images or video. YouTube says live streams are scanned for third-party content; a rights holder’s settings may interrupt or terminate a stream. Read YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance and resolve permissions before putting a playlist on continuous rotation.
Plan bandwidth, archiving and cost
Do not treat one bandwidth figure as a YouTube recommendation
The National Informatics Centre specifies dedicated bandwidth of 2–4 Mbps per stream for its agency-feed webcast scenario, along with an encoder configured for the required protocol and outbound RTMP port 1935 access. These are NIC requirements for that context, not YouTube’s universal bitrate recommendation. Select encoder settings for the actual resolution and frame rate using YouTube’s own current guidance, then verify stream health on the connection and encoder you will use.

Plan separately for replay and archive needs
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not establish automatic archiving for a continuous stream longer than 12 hours. If preserving full-length replays matters, plan a separate recording or archive workflow and verify its operation before relying on it.

Troubleshoot common 24/7 stream failures
- You cannot go live yet: If this is the channel’s first live stream, allow up to 24 hours for YouTube activation. Confirm the channel’s live-stream eligibility in YouTube Studio before debugging the encoder.
- The encoder will not connect: Check that the server URL and stream key match the current YouTube Live Control Room event. For a network managed by an organization, confirm the required outbound RTMP access; NIC’s agency-feed guidance specifies port 1935 in its scenario.
- Video starts but playback does not continue: Test the playlist end-to-end, including its loop behavior and media transitions. On a local setup, also check whether the computer sleeps, reboots or loses power; those are dependencies of the local method.
- The stream drops or is interrupted: Check encoder and network health, then inspect YouTube Live Control Room for stream status or policy notices. No option here should be treated as a guarantee against every interruption; cloud playback can remove the home-computer dependency but still relies on the platform and provider.
- A replay is missing or incomplete: Do not assume YouTube will archive a stream longer than 12 hours automatically. Arrange and test separate recording if a complete replay is important.
- Copyright claims interrupt the stream: Check the rights for the specific audio, composition and visuals, and review any YouTube notice. Replace or remove material you are not authorized to stream rather than relying on the devotional or traditional nature of the content as proof of permission.
Make the choice around the operating model
Choose OBS if you want direct control and can keep a computer, power and network available. Choose a cloud service when unattended prerecorded playback matters more than running the encoder yourself, after checking its current terms and India availability. Consider AJA HELO Plus if a standalone appliance fits your workflow and budget; choose vMix when the channel is really a live-production setup rather than a playlist that needs to loop unattended.

YouTube’s guidance guarantees automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours; it does not establish automatic archiving for a 24-hour continuous stream.
