Reports published October 5, 2026, attribute the claim to an insider post that reportedly did not name the phone; other insiders were said to identify it as the 18 Ultra. The reported reason is that its high costs could make it hard to sell profitably, but that explanation is also unconfirmed.
Will Xiaomi cancel the 18 Ultra?
It is possible, but the cancellation claim remains a rumor—not an established company decision. PhoneArena reports that Digital Chat Station posted about a phone being cancelled without naming a model, and says other insiders connected the post to the Xiaomi 18 Ultra. Android Authority also attributes the claim to Digital Chat Station. Neither report is a Xiaomi confirmation, and the original post was not independently verified in the reporting reviewed.

PhoneArena and Android Authority both published coverage on October 5, 2026. Their overlapping attribution shows that the rumor is circulating, but it does not establish that Xiaomi has cancelled the device. No named Xiaomi executive or official company statement confirming a cancellation was identified in those reports. PhoneArena’s report and Android Authority’s coverage should therefore be read as rumor reporting.
Why was the Xiaomi 18 Ultra reportedly cancelled?
The explanation attached to the rumor is financial: the phone’s alleged component and product costs could make it difficult to price attractively and still sell profitably. That is a reported rationale, not a verified account of Xiaomi’s internal decision-making. The reports do not establish a production cost, planned retail price, sales forecast, or official Xiaomi reasoning.

What would the Xiaomi 18 Ultra reportedly have had?
The leaked concept described a camera-heavy flagship and a flat display with very thin bezels. None of these details is confirmed as a final product specification.
- Display: a flat screen with reportedly 1 mm bezels.
- Main camera: a 200MP camera with a 1/1.12-inch LOFIC sensor.
- Ultra-wide camera: reportedly 200MP.
- Periscope telephoto: reportedly 200MP with a 1/1.28-inch LOFIC sensor, continuous optical zoom, and a multispectral sensor.
Android Authority also describes a three-camera, 200MP setup, including LOFIC hardware in the main and periscope cameras. These are claims about a rumored design, not a specification sheet buyers can rely on. Xiaomi’s use of LOFIC in the released 17 Ultra does not confirm that the rumored successor was planned with the same technology. Xiaomi’s official 17 Ultra product page describes LOFIC hardware HDR in that released phone.

Is the Xiaomi 18 Ultra coming out?
That is not established by the available reports. They do not provide a confirmed launch date, official price, or announcement that the phone will ship. The rumor could prove accurate, but it is not enough to conclude either that the 18 Ultra is definitely cancelled or that it will reach stores. Treat any purported launch timing or final specifications with the same caution unless Xiaomi announces them.

Should you wait, or buy a Xiaomi Ultra phone now?
If you need a phone now
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is a released model and the practical choice to investigate if you want a current Xiaomi Ultra camera phone. Xiaomi’s India product page lists a 1-inch-class main sensor, LOFIC hardware HDR, Leica optics, and 200MP telephoto output. Check local availability, network-band compatibility, warranty coverage, and current price in your market; the India listing does not establish terms elsewhere.

If you can wait
Wait for an official announcement if the rumored 18 Ultra’s possible camera hardware is specifically what interests you. Until then, do not treat the leaked specifications as a basis for a purchase comparison: there is no confirmed 18 Ultra product to compare spec-for-spec with phones already on sale. When comparing available camera flagships, focus on tested image quality, focal-length coverage, display and design, software support, regional warranty and availability, and total price.
