Rockstar has not announced a PC version or PC release date for Grand Theft Auto VI. Its current official listings name PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a launch date of November 19, 2026. A PC edition remains unconfirmed, not permanently ruled out.
What Rockstar has officially confirmed
Rockstar’s support information, updated August 18, 2026, lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The company’s August 6, 2026 Newswire announcement uses the same platform list, saying: “Grand Theft Auto VI is coming November 19 to PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S.” Neither announcement lists Windows PC, Steam, Epic Games Store, or any other computer platform.

Rockstar set the date in its November 6, 2025 release announcement: Thursday, November 19, 2026. Its December 5, 2023 first-trailer announcement also named only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Taken together, these are the platforms and date you can treat as announced today.
| Question | Official position |
|---|---|
| Which platforms are announced? | PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S |
| When is the announced launch? | November 19, 2026 |
| Has Rockstar announced a PC edition? | No PC version appears in the official materials reviewed |
| Has Rockstar announced a PC date? | No |
| Does the omission prove PC will never be supported? | No; it leaves the question unconfirmed |
The distinction matters. An announced platform is a commitment with a stated launch plan. An omitted platform is simply one for which Rockstar has not made a commitment in those materials. It is inaccurate to turn the current omission into a claim that a PC version can never happen.
#1 Best Overall
- This product contains a download code inside the box — no disc is included. Customer shipments will begin arriving November 12 for pre-load; game is playable starting November 19. Code can only be used by users holding an account for PlayStation registered to the US or Canada.
- Pre-order to receive the Vintage Vice City Pack.
- Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience.
Why a PC release is still possible but impossible to date
Rockstar has not said that a PC edition is cancelled, impossible, or permanently excluded. It also has not promised one. Without an announcement, there is no reliable PC launch window, preorder date, system-requirement sheet, storefront listing, or supported graphics API to use for planning.
Rumors, retailer placeholders, social-media posts, and predictions based on development history cannot substitute for a platform announcement. They may change before release and often omit whether a date is an official commitment, an estimate, or a listing created for inventory purposes. Until Rockstar identifies a PC version, treat any claimed date as speculation.
The safest wording for the reader’s question is therefore: Rockstar has announced GTA 6 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026, but has not announced whether or when it will come to PC.

What Rockstar’s previous PC releases show
Rockstar’s back catalogue demonstrates that major console launches have sometimes been followed by PC editions. It does not establish a standard delay or guarantee that every game will receive a port. Two prominent examples illustrate both the pattern and its uncertainty.

- STUNNING VISUALS — Enhanced levels of fidelity and performance with new graphics modes featuring up to 4K resolution, up to 60 frames per second, HDR options, ray tracing, improved texture quality, and more
- FASTER LOADING — Quicker access to the action as the world of Los Santos and Blaine County load in faster than ever before.
- ADAPTIVE TRIGGERS AND HAPTIC FEEDBACK — Feel every moment through the DualSense controller, from directional damage to weather effects, rough road surfaces to explosions, and more.
- TEMPEST 3D AUDIO — Hear the sounds of the world with pinpoint precision: the throttle of a stolen supercar, the rattle of neighbouring gunfire, the roar of a helicopter overhead, and more.
- Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the European version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions.
Grand Theft Auto V
In a September 12, 2014 announcement, Rockstar said the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Grand Theft Auto V would arrive on November 18, 2014. The same announcement described a PC version as planned for January 27, 2015. Rockstar later moved that plan and announced the PC launch for April 14, 2015.
Measured from the November 18 console date to April 14, the final PC launch followed by roughly five months. The important lesson is not the length of that interval; it is that even an announced PC date changed before release. A historical target should never be treated as a guarantee for a future game.
Red Dead Redemption 2
Take-Two’s PC-availability announcement identifies the original PlayStation 4 and Xbox One release of Red Dead Redemption 2 as October 26, 2018. Rockstar subsequently announced the PC version for November 5, 2019. That places the PC launch a little over a year after the console release.
Recommended Free Tools
The two examples differ substantially: one is approximately five months, the other more than twelve. They support the limited observation that Rockstar has released PC versions after console launches, while showing why no dependable GTA 6 timetable can be calculated from them.

| Game | Console launch used for comparison | PC launch | Approximate gap | What it demonstrates |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto V | November 18, 2014 on PS4 and Xbox One | April 14, 2015 | About five months | A planned PC date moved before release |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 26, 2018 on PS4 and Xbox One | November 5, 2019 | A little over one year | A later PC announcement can arrive long after consoles |
These are examples, not a statistical trend. They cannot justify statements such as “Rockstar always waits a year,” “GTA 6 will launch on PC in 2027,” or “the port is guaranteed.” The company could follow either precedent, choose a different schedule, or decline to announce a PC edition.
Timeline of the GTA 6 platform announcements
- December 5, 2023: Rockstar’s first-trailer announcement named PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
- November 6, 2025: Rockstar announced that the game would release Thursday, November 19, 2026.
- August 6, 2026: Rockstar again described the game as coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S; no PC platform was included.
- August 18, 2026: Rockstar’s support page, last updated on this date, continued to list PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and described the physical format.
This chronology shows consistency in the announced console platforms. It does not establish what Rockstar may announce after the current materials.
Should you wait for a PC version?
The practical choice depends on whether you value a confirmed launch date more than the flexibility of waiting for an unannounced edition. There is no official PC timing to put on a calendar, so waiting could mean an unknown period rather than a known delay.
Playing on an announced platform
- You have a platform Rockstar currently supports publicly: PS5 or Xbox Series X|S.
- You can plan around the announced November 19, 2026 date, subject to any later official change.
- You avoid making a purchase decision based on an unverified PC rumor.
- You should choose between the consoles according to hardware you already own, your controller and account preferences, and the games you play; the available evidence does not establish a technical advantage for one.
Waiting for PC
- You may prefer a keyboard and mouse, higher graphics settings, ultrawide displays, community modifications, or the ability to upgrade hardware over time.
- You must accept that Rockstar has supplied no PC date, requirements, storefront, or promise.
- You should not sell existing hardware or budget for a specific PC launch year on the basis of the GTA V or Red Dead Redemption 2 intervals.
- When an official PC announcement arrives, verify the edition, supported operating systems, release date, and whether the date applies worldwide before changing your plan.
A sensible rule is to buy or upgrade for games and hardware you can use now, rather than for an unannounced GTA 6 PC edition. If you already own a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S and want to play on the announced date, that is the only route Rockstar has publicly committed to at present.

What the physical edition information means
Rockstar’s support page describes a physical version whose box contains a digital download code and no game disc. That detail applies to the announced console physical product; it does not confirm a PC release or a PC retail format.
If you consider a boxed copy, check the retailer listing for the exact region, platform, edition, and format. A box with a code may require an internet connection and an account for redemption, and the code’s region restrictions can matter. Availability and terms can change, so the listing should be checked at the time of purchase rather than assumed from a product title.

Use Rockstar’s own Newswire and support materials as the primary confirmation. A real announcement should identify the PC platform explicitly and normally provide at least a release date or a clear statement that the date will be supplied later.
- Look for a dated Rockstar announcement that names PC or Windows, not merely a generic reference to a future release.
- Confirm that the announcement concerns Grand Theft Auto VI rather than an update, trailer, online feature, or another Rockstar title.
- Check whether the platform statement applies globally or has regional restrictions.
- Record the announced date and edition, then watch for a later delay notice; GTA V shows that a planned date can move.
- Use Rockstar’s published system requirements when available. Do not infer them from GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2, or unofficial benchmark videos.
Storefront pages and retailer entries become meaningful only when they match an official Rockstar announcement. A placeholder page by itself is not evidence of a confirmed launch.

Common mistakes when interpreting the evidence
Calling the game console-exclusive
The current announcements list two consoles, but they do not say that GTA 6 will never appear on PC. “Not announced for PC” is precise; “console-exclusive forever” goes beyond the evidence.
Using one historical delay as a formula
GTA V’s roughly five-month interval and Red Dead Redemption 2’s interval of more than a year are different outcomes. Averaging them would create a number Rockstar has never provided and would imply a level of predictability the examples do not support.
Treating a rumored year as a release date
A year repeated online is not an official date. Until Rockstar publishes a PC platform statement, there is no confirmed year to report.
Assuming the physical box contains a disc
Rockstar says the announced physical box contains a download code and no disc. Buyers should confirm that format before ordering, particularly if they expect offline installation or a resaleable disc.
What to expect from future updates
The most useful future change would be an explicit platform announcement. It might arrive alongside a trailer, a release-date update, a store listing, or system requirements, but none of those should be treated as confirmation unless Rockstar identifies PC directly.
Rockstar’s release information can change, so re-check the company’s current support page and Newswire before publication, preorder, or a major hardware purchase. Historical launch dates for GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 are stable reference points; the GTA 6 platform status is the part that requires current verification.
