Will AI Handle All Network Trouble Tickets Without Humans in Two Years? What HPE Says

Not on the evidence available. A secondary report attributes to HPE Networking chief Rami Rahim a forecast that AI could handle nearly all network trouble tickets without human intervention within two to three years, except for hardware swaps. HPE’s published Marvis AI examples show bounded troubleshooting and automated actions, not proof that every network issue can be resolved autonomously.

What is the two-to-three-year prediction?

AllMind News reported that Rahim said 70%–80% of network trouble tickets already require no human intervention, and forecast that within two to three years no issues would need human intervention apart from hardware swaps. The report is the basis for the headline’s shorter “two years” wording; it should not be read as a verified guarantee or a precisely established deadline. AllMind News is secondary reporting, and the original interview or event and Rahim’s exact words were not located. The percentage and forecast therefore remain attributed claims, not independently verified measurements.

What can HPE Marvis AI do today?

HPE’s product materials describe Marvis AI as assisting with network troubleshooting: it can identify issues, analyze likely causes, recommend next steps, and take some actions autonomously when a customer has granted permission. Published examples include attempts to recover a network port. If an action does not resolve the issue, the matter may remain open for further investigation rather than being declared fixed. HPE’s Marvis AI overview describes these capabilities, but does not establish that all customer network faults are resolved without people.

That distinction matters: automating a defined diagnosis or recovery step is not the same as resolving every incident from detection through repair. The product examples are bounded by the kinds of issues and actions described, and by customer permissions.

What does HPE mean when it says Marvis answers support tickets?

HPE also says Marvis processes incoming support tickets. In that context, HPE says its support and data-science teams review tickets Marvis cannot answer. HPE’s support-ticket description concerns HPE’s own support workflow; it should not be conflated with every trouble ticket generated by faults across customers’ networks. Nor does “answers” necessarily mean that an underlying network problem has been autonomously repaired.

Is zero human involvement HPE’s current result or a future goal?

Fierce Network reports that HPE aims ultimately to reach zero incoming trouble tickets and is expanding self-driving actions. That is a stated ambition and roadmap, not evidence that the goal has been achieved across customer networks. Fierce Network’s coverage should be read in that context.

  • Smart-managed Layer 2 Ethernet switch series ready to deploy in 8-, 24-, 48-port for non-PoE and Class 4 PoE models.
  • Up to 370W of PoE to power APs, IP Phones, surveillance cameras, door locks and other IoT devices
  • Two (2) and four (4) dedicated 1G SFP fiber ports on 24- and 48-port models respectively to eliminate traffic bottlenecks across your network
  • Cost-effective PoE Support: with half of the ports capable of supporting PoE, these switches are ideal for cost-sensitive environments.
  • 8-port non-PoE switch that can be powered by an upstream Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch for environments where no line power is available.

CRN has also reported HPE Networking vice president Jeff Aaron’s claim that HPE can proactively detect and fix network problems without human involvement. CRN’s report attributes that statement to an HPE executive; it is a vendor claim about some problems, not independent proof of universal automation.

What should network teams take away?

  • AI-assisted diagnosis, recommendations, and automated actions are real parts of HPE’s described product capabilities, but their scope is specific rather than universal.
  • Check which network issues and domains an automation feature covers, which actions it can take, and whether those actions require approval or permission.
  • Understand how unresolved incidents are escalated to people; HPE describes human review for support tickets Marvis cannot answer.
  • Treat forecasts and ticket-reduction claims as claims unless they are backed by clearly defined, independently verifiable outcomes.
