The WiiM Bar is a standalone 3.0.2-channel soundbar designed to bring Dolby Atmos and DTS:X playback to a TV setup, with the option to expand into a 5.1.2 system using compatible WiiM products. It connects by HDMI eARC, with optical and line inputs as alternatives. WiiM’s product page lists it at $479 and marks it “Coming Soon,” so availability may vary by market.
What the WiiM Bar adds to a TV setup
WiiM describes the Bar as a 3.0.2-channel system: left, center and right channels, plus two height channels from top-firing drivers. It supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, formats intended to add a sense of height to compatible soundtracks. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent findings about how convincingly the Bar reproduces surround effects in a particular room.

The published specifications also list eight drivers, four passive radiators, 135W of system power and a 2.1-inch display. Those figures describe the product; by themselves, they do not establish sound quality or performance relative to other soundbars. See WiiM’s product overview.
How to connect it to a TV
WiiM recommends connecting the Bar to the TV’s HDMI ARC/eARC port. Optical In and Line In are also available. If the TV has no ARC/eARC port, optical is a documented fallback, but WiiM says the TV remote cannot adjust the Bar’s volume over that optical connection. Check your TV’s available ports and audio-output settings before choosing the connection.

The Bar has HDMI eARC but no HDMI passthrough port, according to TechRadar’s launch coverage. That means it does not provide an extra HDMI input for a console, player or other source. Check whether your TV has enough HDMI inputs for your devices and whether each source can send audio formats your TV and soundbar support.
Setup and placement
- Place the Bar below or near the TV, leaving its front and top speakers unobstructed. Avoid blocking the TV’s infrared receiver.
- Connect the TV’s HDMI ARC/eARC port to the Bar’s HDMI eARC input. If that is unavailable, use optical; Line In is another documented audio-input option.
- Connect power and turn on the Bar. WiiM’s package list includes HDMI and optical cables, a power cable, a remote and wall brackets.
- Use the WiiM Home app on a smartphone or tablet to complete setup over Wi-Fi, then check for firmware updates.
WiiM’s setup guide lists a smartphone or tablet, Wi-Fi, the Bar and a TV or other audio source as setup requirements. Its firmware notes list version 5.2.829051, released September 11, 2026, with changes including Ethernet stability, surround balance and the default height-audio level. Firmware details can change; check WiiM’s current Bar firmware notes.

What it takes to expand to surround sound
The Bar works on its own; additional WiiM equipment is required for the documented surround configurations. WiiM describes expansion up to 5.1.2 with a Sub Pro and compatible surround devices. The system’s companion speakers connect wirelessly for audio, but still need power and network setup.

Who should consider the WiiM Bar
- It may suit a TV setup with an available ARC/eARC port if you want a soundbar with manufacturer-listed Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support.
- It may be a better fit if you want an expandable system and are comfortable building around compatible WiiM equipment rather than treating the Bar as a complete wireless surround package.
- Check the HDMI layout first if several devices connect to the TV. The Bar does not offer HDMI passthrough.
- Check the placement and control details if the top-firing drivers would sit under a shelf, or if you need TV-remote volume control while using an optical connection.
Price and availability
WiiM’s product page displays a price of $479 USD and “Coming Soon” as accessed October 7, 2026. WiiM previously announced that price for a planned July 2026 release, but that announcement does not establish current stock or release timing in every region. Confirm the product page or local availability before purchasing.
WiiM positions the Bar as a simple way to bring TV and music into its ecosystem. CEO Dr. Lifeng Zhao told TechRadar, “We don’t want to make a legacy AVR,” describing the company’s intent rather than an independent assessment of the product. See TechRadar’s interview with Zhao.
