Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Most Honeywell Home thermostat Wi-Fi failures come down to an incompatible network band, incorrect network credentials, a router that is not broadcasting, weak signal, or an unfinished model-specific app setup. Identify the thermostat model and the exact failure symptom first: a network that never appears needs a different fix from a password rejection or an app that shows the thermostat offline.
Identify the thermostat and the kind of failure
Find the thermostat’s model name or number and note which app you use. Resideo provides different setup resources for the T5, T6 Pro, T9, and T10 families, so menus and reconnection steps are not universal. See Resideo’s thermostat support resources.

Then match what you see to the closest symptom:
- Your home network does not appear: Check whether the thermostat supports the network band being broadcast and whether the router is broadcasting that network.
- The network appears, but setup will not join it: Recheck the exact network name (SSID) and password.
- It connects, then drops: Router coverage or an unstable network may be involved.
- The thermostat appears offline in the app: Check the router connection and whether the thermostat still needs to be registered or reconfigured in its model-specific app.
A phone seeing your Wi-Fi does not prove the thermostat can use the same band, and an offline app status alone does not establish that the thermostat itself has failed.

Wi-Fi specifications vary by model. Resideo’s Lyric T6/T6R guide calls for secure 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, and the T5 manual says that thermostat operates in the 2.4 GHz range. If you own one of these models, make sure the router broadcasts a compatible 2.4 GHz network and select it during setup. Do not assume another Honeywell Home model has the same specification; check its manual or support page.

Check the router before resetting the thermostat
Confirm that the modem, router, or gateway is powered and broadcasting, and check that another device can use the home internet connection. Resideo recommends restarting or power-cycling networking equipment, reorienting router or gateway antennas, and checking for router software updates in its thermostat troubleshooting guidance, last updated September 13, 2024.

- Check that the home network is available to another device and that the router is broadcasting the compatible network band for your thermostat.
- Reorient the router or gateway antennas if applicable, and check the router maker’s guidance for software updates.
- Try thermostat setup again with the correct network name and password.
Consider signal coverage only when the symptoms point to it
If the thermostat connects reliably near the router but becomes unreliable farther away, weak coverage is a plausible cause. Resideo notes that Wi-Fi range is determined by the router; its T5+ guidance points readers to router documentation and mentions repeaters. A range extender or repeater is worth considering only when the evidence points to a coverage problem. It will not correct an unsupported band, a wrong password, or incomplete app setup.
Reconnect after changing a router or network
If you replaced the router or changed the Wi-Fi name or password, the thermostat may still be trying to use the old network details. Follow the instructions for the exact model rather than relying on a generic reset. For Lyric T6/T6R, the guide directs users to Thermostat Configuration in the Honeywell Home app to disconnect or reconnect after a network change. Other models may use different app menus; consult their setup resource through Resideo’s thermostat support page.

Know what Wi-Fi loss does—and does not—mean
On the T5, Resideo says temperature can still be adjusted at the thermostat when Wi-Fi is unavailable, but app-managed features such as geofencing will not work while the connection is down. This is model-specific: check your own thermostat’s guide for what remains available without Wi-Fi.
Before treating a connection failure as a device problem, check whether the app or service is experiencing an outage. Resideo’s support page displayed its Resideo Smart Home, Total Connect Comfort, and Resideo Connect apps as online on October 7, 2026. That is a dated status observation, not a guarantee of current availability; check the page for current information.
When to contact support
