If Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) did not appear on your Samsung Galaxy, first check that alerts are allowed in Settings, then check Airplane mode and cellular reception. A missed alert can also involve the phone’s software or support, your carrier, or whether a nearby cell site was broadcasting; enabling the setting cannot fix every network or device issue.
Check the Wireless emergency alerts setting
On many recent U.S. Galaxy phones, open Settings > Safety and emergency > Wireless emergency alerts, then turn on Allow alerts. Alert options can vary by carrier and software version, so the labels or available categories on your phone may differ.

If you do not see that route, search Settings for emergency alerts. Another route on some versions is Settings > Notifications > Advanced settings > Wireless emergency alerts. Samsung’s U.S. guidance documents these menu variations.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsCheck connection and phone state
- Turn off Airplane mode. Samsung lists Airplane mode as a possible reason an alert may not arrive.
- Check cellular reception. Weak coverage can prevent receipt. A cell site may also be out of service, under maintenance, or not broadcasting.
- Consider whether you were on a call. Samsung says some devices may not show an alert during a call; behavior varies by make and model.
Samsung Support U.S. notes, “If you are not receiving emergency alerts, it could be due to the following reasons:” Its troubleshooting guidance includes reception, Airplane mode, and cell-site conditions.

Update software and restart if alerts repeat
Check Settings > Software update for an update available to your phone and install it if appropriate. Samsung’s U.K. guidance recommends current software, but an update cannot restore cellular coverage or make a non-broadcasting cell site deliver an alert.
If alerts keep reappearing after you have received them, Samsung recommends powering the phone off and back on. This is a separate issue from an alert that never arrived.

Understand what the setting can—and cannot—fix
The FCC describes WEA as an opt-out alert notification system available on “most smartphones that were manufactured after 2012,” depending on wireless-provider participation. That general statement is not a guarantee for every Galaxy model, carrier, location, or alert. WEA is not an ordinary SMS subscription or an app that independently guarantees delivery. See the FCC’s 2019 WEA overview.
Samsung’s U.K. page discusses that region’s Emergency Alerts and includes device, software, and network factors. Those regional instructions should not be treated as U.S. WEA rules. Its U.K. guidance also illustrates why menus and eligibility can depend on model, software, and network.

When to contact your carrier
If alerts are enabled, Airplane mode is off, reception is available, and the issue persists, ask your carrier whether service in your area or your device’s alert capability is supported, and whether there were network or cell-site problems. This is a sensible follow-up given the carrier and network dependencies Samsung and the FCC describe, not a guaranteed diagnosis.
There is no documented accessory, replacement part, repair tool, or third-party app in the cited guidance that fixes missed WEA delivery. A separate emergency radio may provide another warning channel, but it does not repair alert receipt on the phone.
