If an update or new content seems missing in Village in the Shade, first determine whether Steam has not installed the game patch or whether the patch is installed but the feature is still locked behind in-game progress. The official announcement says Free Update #1, Patch 1.20, was available on September 28, 2026; several additions require specific milestones, and the Furniture Catalog event can be delayed by story scenes or rain.
First, identify what is missing
Check whether you mean the Steam software update itself or a particular addition inside your save. These are different problems: the patch announcement establishes availability, while some updated features appear only after you meet their in-game requirements.

- Steam still shows a download or the game appears not to have updated: this is an installation or delivery issue.
- The game launches, but the Catalog, furniture, or animals are missing: check the feature’s progression requirements before concluding that the patch failed.
The official game announcements say Patch 1.20 was available on September 28, 2026: Village in the Shade official Steam announcements. The official Steam store page currently displays “See all updates (Latest: Sep 3),” which does not match the later announcement. That label alone is not evidence that the September 28 update is unavailable: official Steam store page.
If the Furniture Catalog has not appeared
The Catalog does not automatically appear just because the update is installed. Follow the sequence in the official content announcement:

- Wait for the letter about the Catalog.
- Go to the location indicated by the letter and activate the event.
The event may be suppressed on days with certain main-story scenes or on rainy days. The announcement puts it plainly: “Please note that the event where you receive the Furniture Catalog will not occur on days where certain main storyline scenes play or on days when it’s raining.” If the event does not trigger, continue further into the story or wait for clear weather, then check again. If the update’s other additions are missing
Different additions have different gates. Compare your progress with the relevant condition rather than treating every missing item as a failed download.

These availability conditions are listed in the official Patch 1.20 announcement. The same announcement lists livestock behavior improvements, scarecrow display and crop changes, continuous machine loading and unloading, and bug fixes; it does not establish that every individual problem has been fixed.

If Steam has not downloaded or installed Patch 1.20
The official game sources identify the patch and its announced availability but do not publish a specific Steam-client repair sequence for a stalled or missing download. Avoid assuming that a particular reinstall, cache-clearing action, or file-verification step is publisher-prescribed. If the update remains unavailable or installation fails, contact the publisher support route listed on Steam’s technical-issue page for the game: NIS America at [email protected].
