An always-on schedule, by itself, is not among YouTube’s published reasons for disabling Super Chat. The cause is more likely to be the channel’s eligibility or Supers settings, a restriction on that particular livestream, the creator’s or viewer’s location, or the way viewers are watching. Check those in that order; without the channel, stream, and viewer details, there is no way to identify the exact cause.
1. Check channel eligibility and Supers activation
Super Chat and Super Stickers are part of YouTube’s fan funding features. YouTube requires a channel to participate in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), meet the applicable age and location requirements, comply with the relevant terms, and enable the feature. See YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers eligibility and setup guidance and the fan funding eligibility requirements.

- In YouTube Studio, open Earn and look for the Supers tab or card. If it is unavailable, check whether the channel meets YPP and fan funding requirements before troubleshooting the stream itself.
- Confirm the creator is at least 18 and in a location where the feature is available. Compare the creator’s location with YouTube’s current availability guidance.
- Review the applicable Commerce Product Module or legacy Addendum and confirm Super Chat is enabled in Studio. Eligibility alone does not mean the feature is switched on.
2. Check restrictions on the specific livestream
A channel can be eligible while an individual livestream is not. YouTube says Super Chat and Super Stickers are unavailable for age-restricted, unlisted, or private videos; videos set as Made for Kids; YouTube Giving fundraiser videos; and videos where live chat or comments are turned off. Review the stream’s settings and YouTube’s list of Super Chat exclusions.

- Visibility: Check that the stream is public, not unlisted or private.
- Audience: Check whether the stream is set as Made for Kids.
- Age restriction: Check whether YouTube has applied an age restriction.
- Fundraiser: Check whether it is a YouTube Giving fundraiser.
- Chat: Confirm live chat or comments are enabled for the stream.
These are stream-level checks, so inspect the affected livestream rather than relying only on the channel’s general monetization status.

3. Check where the viewer is watching
Ask an affected viewer to open the stream on its YouTube watch page, rather than inside an embedded player on another site. YouTube’s guidance says live chat is available on watch pages, not embedded players; an embed can therefore explain why a viewer does not see the chat experience needed to send a Super Chat. See YouTube’s live chat guidance.
4. Check creator and viewer location
Availability can vary by location. Compare the creator’s location and the affected viewers’ locations with YouTube’s current guidance for Super Chat availability. A feature appearing for some viewers but not others can point to a regional difference, but it does not prove that geography is the cause.

5. If it still does not work
- Confirm the channel is eligible and Supers is enabled under YouTube Studio → Earn → Supers.
- Recheck the affected stream’s visibility, audience designation, age restriction, fundraiser status, and live chat/comments settings.
- Have an affected viewer open the YouTube watch page directly and check whether Super Chat appears there.
- Compare creator and viewer locations with YouTube’s current availability guidance.
- If the issue persists, check Studio for channel-specific notices and contact YouTube Creator Support if available to the channel. YouTube’s public guidance does not reveal what restriction, if any, applies to a particular account.
What the Super Chat revenue share means
YouTube Help says creators receive 70% of confirmed Supers revenue. YouTube calculates that share after local sales tax and iOS App Store fees; YouTube currently covers transaction costs, including credit card fees. This is a payout rule, not an eligibility test, and it does not explain why a viewer cannot send a Super Chat.
