Why TMUS, CMCSA and JOBY Hit 52-Week Lows in the Week Through October 9, 2026

TMUS, CMCSA and JOBY reached 52-week lows for different reported reasons during the trading week ending October 9, 2026. T-Mobile fell amid a wireless-sector selloff after SpaceX’s spectrum acquisition raised competition concerns; Comcast remained weighed down by broadband losses and pricing pressure; and Joby Aviation faced a bearish analyst initiation and an adverse jury verdict. The reports do not show one shared catalyst or quantify how much any factor drove the stocks’ declines.

What was behind each stock’s decline?

Stock Reported pressure What the evidence establishes
TMUS Wireless-sector reaction to SpaceX spectrum news Reported sector selloff and T-Mobile’s October 9 decline; future business impact remains an investor concern, not an established outcome.
CMCSA Broadband subscriber losses and competitive pricing Ongoing operating pressures; no unique October 9 trigger is established.
JOBY Analyst initiation and jury verdict Reported company-specific developments; their individual impact on the share price is not isolated.

Why did T-Mobile (TMUS) fall?

T-Mobile shares closed down 13.27% on October 9, according to The Motley Fool’s contemporaneous coverage. Wireless stocks sold off after SpaceX acquired nationwide 800 MHz spectrum, prompting concern that its planned expansion into mobile services could intensify competition. That concern explains the reported market reaction; it does not establish that T-Mobile has already lost customers or that its future financial results will suffer. The Motley Fool’s October 9 coverage describes the move and the spectrum news.

Why was Comcast (CMCSA) under pressure?

Comcast was at a 52-week low by October 9, according to market data. Its broader concern was residential broadband customer losses amid aggressive competition, including fiber and fixed-wireless offers. Those are ongoing business pressures, not proof of a specific event that caused the stock to make a low on that particular day. The available reporting does not establish a single October 9 trigger.

What Comcast’s latest reported results add

Comcast’s results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, offered some counterpoints: the company reported 448,000 domestic wireless line additions and $189 million in adjusted EBITDA for Peacock, which it said had reached quarterly profitability. These figures provide operating context, but they do not explain the October share-price move. Comcast’s second-quarter 2026 results contain the company’s figures.

Why did Joby Aviation (JOBY) hit a low?

Joby faced two reported company-specific concerns. Investing.com said Barclays initiated coverage at Underweight with a $4-per-share price objective. The same report said an unresolved $116.9 million jury verdict for aviation supplier Aerosonic added legal risk. The verdict and analyst view are distinct developments: the price objective represents an analyst’s opinion, while the verdict is a legal matter. Coverage reported both in connection with Joby’s decline, but does not isolate how much either one affected the share price. Investing.com’s October 9 report gives the details.

Yahoo Finance’s syndicated coverage also documented Joby reaching a new low during the week. Yahoo Finance’s report provides additional contemporaneous coverage.

Were the three lows caused by the same event?

No common event is established. TMUS was principally a sector-news story, CMCSA reflected ongoing broadband competition concerns, and JOBY had company-specific analyst and legal developments. The lows coincided in time, but that does not make their causes interchangeable. A reported event is also not the same as a proven effect on future earnings, subscribers, or share value.
