The Xiaomi 18 Ultra is reported to have been canceled or shelved, but Xiaomi has not officially confirmed a cancellation in the sources available as of October 2026. The reported explanation is that a planned price of CNY 9,999 was considered too high to support sustainable sales. Its rumored triple-200MP camera system and other features remain leaks, not specifications for a finished product.
Why is the Xiaomi 18 Ultra reportedly canceled?
In an October 5, 2026 report, Android Authority attributed the CNY 9,999 expected price and concern about sustainable sales to tipster Digital Chat Station. Gizmochina also reported the price rationale. That is a leak-based explanation, not a statement from Xiaomi, and the reporting does not provide a cancellation-specific sales figure. Android Authority and Gizmochina describe the rumor; neither establishes an official decision.

Earlier reports offered a separate possible factor: ANTARA’s August 17 coverage relayed speculation that rising memory costs could be involved, alongside a possible lineup that prioritizes the Xiaomi 18, 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max. It also suggested an Ultra might return with a later generation. Notebookcheck reported cancellation rumors on July 20 and said Xiaomi had not commented at the time. These are stages in a rumor trail, not independent confirmation or a settled account of Xiaomi’s reasoning. ANTARA News · Notebookcheck
What the Xiaomi 18 Ultra might have included
October 5 reports attributed a set of hypothetical specifications to Digital Chat Station. They describe a phone that would have leaned heavily on camera hardware, but none of these details has been confirmed by Xiaomi.

Leaked configuration and display
The reported base configuration was 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, paired with an unnamed flagship chipset. One report said a benchmark score exceeded 500 million but did not identify the benchmark, so the figure cannot reliably identify the processor or predict real-world performance. The phone was also described as having a flat display with narrow bezels and symmetrical dual speakers.
Three rumored 200MP rear cameras
The most striking claim was a three-camera rear system, with 200MP resolution assigned to each module:
- Main camera: a 200MP sensor reportedly measuring 1/1.12 inch, with LOFIC imaging technology.
- Ultrawide: a reported 200MP sensor measuring 1/1.56 inch.
- Periscope telephoto: a reported 200MP sensor measuring 1/1.28 inch, with continuous optical zoom.
Gizmochina also reported a multispectral lens and the possibility of a magnetic external lens. Those details, like the camera specifications, describe a rumored concept rather than a confirmed Xiaomi product. The reports do not establish image quality: megapixel counts alone cannot show how a camera would perform.

How the rumored price compares with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra
The leaked CNY 9,999 figure would place the rumored 18 Ultra above the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s official China starting price. The currencies and markets matter: Xiaomi’s investor presentation lists the 17 Ultra at RMB 6,999 in China and EUR 1,499 for overseas pricing. Android Authority’s approximate conversion of the leaked CNY 9,999 price is US$1,490; it is not an announced US price.

What is verified about the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s cameras?
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is a released comparison point, not a substitute for the unconfirmed 18 Ultra. Xiaomi’s official materials describe a one-inch ultra-dynamic main camera using LOFIC HDR, Leica APO optical design, and a 200MP Leica telephoto camera covering 75–100mm with mechanical optical zoom. This is a documented camera system; it does not confirm that Xiaomi finalized or planned the rumored 18 Ultra arrangement.

A higher megapixel count by itself does not establish better photographs, and the available information does not support a direct image-quality comparison.
What would confirm the cancellation?
A Xiaomi announcement or evidence that the phone reached retail would clarify whether the project was canceled, delayed, or changed. The cited reports do not establish any such confirmation. For now, the CNY 9,999 price rationale and proposed specifications should be treated as attributed leaks, while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra remains the released device with officially documented imaging features.
