If a soccer livestream says it is unavailable in your country, the usual reason is that the service does not have permission to show that match in your territory—or that its eligibility rules do not cover your current location. Check the competition’s official broadcaster list for your country, then confirm the match on that broadcaster’s schedule. Rights and access rules vary by competition, territory, service, and date.
Why a soccer stream may be blocked in your country
Soccer broadcast rights are often sold or assigned for specific competitions and territories. A broadcaster may be authorized to show a match in one country but not another, so a streaming service has to limit access to match the rights it holds. UEFA’s rules say that UEFA and its member associations hold exclusive rights to broadcast and authorize the use of matches within their jurisdictions: UEFA legal information.

Services can use location-detection technology to apply those limits. UEFA’s terms state: “UEFA deploys technologies to determine your geographic location.” UEFA also says users may not obscure or manipulate their location to access content they otherwise could not view. That is UEFA’s service rule; it should not be taken as a universal statement about the law or every streaming platform’s terms. - Start with the competition’s official website. Find its current “where to watch” or broadcast-partner listing and select your country. UEFA directs fans to territory-specific broadcaster information, and its 2026/27 Champions League listing names partners by territory. Check the listing for the competition and season you mean; a service that carries one league or tournament may not carry another.
- Check the broadcaster’s own schedule and eligibility terms. Confirm that it is showing the specific match live, and check whether access requires a subscription, a particular package, or residence in a particular country. The competition’s partner list identifies a broadcaster, but the provider’s schedule and terms establish what you can watch.
- Check the competition organizer’s service, where applicable. UEFA.tv carries some live content, but its FAQ says flagship competitions—including the Champions League, Europa League, EURO, Nations League, and European Qualifiers—are generally not available live there. It directs viewers to broadcasters instead. Some UEFA.tv live matches may also be geo-restricted.
If you are travelling or the location looks wrong
Travelling with a subscription
Do not assume a subscription will work abroad. Check the provider’s travel and portability terms before relying on it. For example, UEFA.tv’s Premium FAQ allows temporary travel access within the EU/EEA and says access is unavailable outside it; it identifies Spain as the Premium service’s residence territory. Those provisions apply to UEFA.tv Premium, not automatically to another broadcaster or streaming service. See UEFA.tv’s FAQ for its current conditions.

Getting a location error at home
If you are in the territory where the provider says the stream should be available, use that service’s published troubleshooting steps or contact its support team. Account eligibility, network details, and location settings can affect what the service detects, but there is no single troubleshooting procedure that applies to every broadcaster. Follow the provider’s rules rather than trying to conceal or manipulate your location.
Check device support and connection quality
Availability also depends on whether the authorized service supports your device and whether your connection can deliver the stream. Check the provider’s help page for compatible devices and its current technical requirements before match time. UEFA says UEFA.tv availability depends on internet connection and device capabilities. Its FAQ states that a computer connection of 5.0 Mbps or higher can enjoy UEFA.tv’s highest video quality and describes adaptive streaming. That is UEFA’s guidance for its service—not a universal bandwidth guarantee or a promise that every device will achieve the same quality.

What to verify before kickoff
- The competition and season’s official broadcaster listing for your country.
- The provider’s schedule for the exact match, including whether it is live, replayed, or available only as highlights.
- Territorial eligibility, subscription or package requirements, and travel rules.
- Support for your device and any connection requirements listed by the provider.
Broadcast rights, schedules, service rules, portability, and device support can change. Confirm details with the competition organizer and authorized provider for the match and date you plan to watch.
