Yes, you could be refused entry or asked to leave for wearing smart AI glasses. Some event rules cover any recording-capable device, even when you are not recording. There is no verified universal list of glasses that festivals allow: the organizer’s current policy, the specific venue and screening, and any staff instructions determine what works.
Can I wear Meta glasses to a festival?
Only if that event’s current rules allow them. Ray-Ban Meta glasses can capture photos and video with a button or voice command, so they fall within rules aimed at recording-capable or camera-enabled wearable devices. The fact that a device can record does not mean every festival bans it—but it can be enough under some policies. Check the organizer’s terms before you go, rather than relying on the glasses’ model or features as a guarantee of admission. Ray-Ban’s FAQ describes the capture controls.

Will they kick me out for smart glasses?
They may deny entry, ask you to remove the glasses, require secure storage, or take other action under their rules. The Atlantic International Film Festival (AIFF), for example, prohibits smart glasses and other wearable devices capable of recording, photographing, livestreaming, or capturing audio or visual content at official festival events. Its policy says this applies whether or not the wearer is actively capturing content, and staff may require the device to be removed or securely stored. During screenings, camera-enabled wearables are prohibited unless AIFF authorizes them. Read AIFF’s recording policy for its terms.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhat if I don’t record?
That may not matter. AIFF explicitly applies its rule to recording-capable glasses regardless of active use. Switching off a camera, promising not to record, or pointing out that the capture indicator is visible does not override a policy written around device capability. The event’s wording controls.

Where can a rule apply?
Do not assume a restriction is limited to the auditorium. AIFF’s policy names screenings, venues, receptions, industry activities, workshops, talks, panels, and other official programming. Another organizer may set a narrower or different scope, so check the policy for each venue and activity you plan to attend.
Which festivals allow Ray-Ban Meta?
No verified, comprehensive list establishes which festivals allow ordinary ticket holders to wear Ray-Ban Meta or other smart glasses. A prominent exception for a particular participant or program is not general guest permission.

Cannes: a partnership is not a guest pass
Meta described creator use of Ray-Ban Meta glasses at the 2026 Festival de Cannes as part of its official multi-year festival partnership, including a dedicated guest experience and demonstrations. That establishes sanctioned partner activity; it does not establish that ordinary attendees may bring or record with the glasses. Meta’s Cannes announcement describes the partnership.

UK cinemas: a broader policy trend, not a festival directory
The Associated Press reported on October 5, 2026, that the UK Cinema Association said it was introducing policies to prohibit or restrict camera-enabled smart glasses because of privacy and film-piracy concerns. This is cinema-sector context, not a complete list of festival rules or a guarantee of what a particular venue will allow. The AP report provides that context.
Do prescription smart glasses count?
Prescription lenses do not automatically make recording-capable glasses exempt. The Register’s account of DEF CON’s 2026 announcement says prescription use was not an exception. Other events may handle prescription eyewear differently, so ask the organizer in advance if you need the glasses for vision and the published policy is unclear. Do not assume a medical or prescription need guarantees entry.

Does the recording light make smart glasses acceptable?
No. Ray-Ban says the capture LED activates during photo and video capture; Meta’s July 2026 explanation says it blinks briefly for a photo, remains on during video, and has no off switch. Those are manufacturer descriptions of the indicator, not permission to record or evidence that an event will accept the glasses. Meta’s stated guidance is: “Respect people’s preferences. Not everyone loves being photographed. Stop recording if anyone expresses that they would rather you not.” That advice does not replace venue rules or consent. Meta’s explanation of the capture indicator gives the device details; the statement is attributed to Meta’s website in the Associated Press report.

How to check before you arrive
- Find the exact event’s current policy. Check its official terms and prohibited-items or recording policy, not just a general festival FAQ.
- Check the location and activity. Look for separate rules covering screenings, individual venues, talks, receptions, or other official programming.
- Read for capability-based wording. Terms such as “recording-capable smart glasses” or “camera-enabled wearable devices” may cover glasses even if you do not intend to record.
- Look for explicit exceptions and handling instructions. Confirm whether authorization is required and whether prohibited devices may be stored securely, must be removed, or cannot be brought in.
- Ask the organizer before travelling if anything is unclear. Explain the exact device and any prescription need, and keep the response available. At the event, follow staff directions.
Ray-Ban says its Meta glasses require a compatible smartphone, the Meta AI app, wireless internet access, and a Meta account to operate, and its FAQ lists availability by region. Those product requirements do not affect admission; check the event’s rules separately.
