Start by identifying whether you’re watching on Peacock, an NBC app or website, or a TV-provider app; each route has different access rules.
Why SNL may be unavailable where you are
The service has location-based rules
NBC says its network live streams are location based and require viewers to be physically in the United States. Those rules apply to NBC network live streams; they should not be assumed to describe every Peacock feature or every country’s distribution arrangements. NBC’s live-stream availability guidance explains the network-stream conditions.

Peacock’s US-facing SNL listing presents the show as available to stream and advertises new episodes live on NBC and Peacock on Saturdays at 11:30/10:30c. Availability on that page does not establish that Peacock carries SNL in every country.
You may be using a route that requires a TV provider
Watching through an NBC app or website is not the same as watching through Peacock. NBC says eligible TV-provider subscribers may access live streaming and some new or cable-channel content by signing in with a listed provider. A Peacock subscription is not TV-provider authentication for NBC and certain other NBCUniversal apps; the services are separate. See NBC’s explanation of Peacock and NBC app access.

The episode may not be released or may have expired
A show listing does not guarantee that every episode is available at the same time or indefinitely. NBC says some newly aired content becomes available a week after online publication, with exceptions; that general guidance is not a fixed release promise for SNL. Its episode-expiration guide also describes varying availability windows without promising a specific SNL episode’s window.
Rights may limit an episode or segment
Streaming rights can vary by show and may be constrained by music clearances, syndication deals, or other agreements. As a result, an episode or part of an episode may be unavailable even when SNL has a general listing. NBC explains these limits in its guide to why shows or episodes expire.

What to try, in order
- Identify where you’re watching. Check whether you opened Peacock, an NBC app or website live stream, or an app provided by your TV service. Do not assume that a subscription or login for one route grants access through another.
- Open the exact episode page. Check whether the episode has been released and whether it is still available. A show page may remain visible after a particular episode is no longer offered.
- If you’re using an NBC network live stream, check its eligibility. NBC’s stated rules require physical presence in the United States. A participating TV provider may also be needed, and its billing address must be in the local viewing area. NBC says live content is subject to network programming and schedule decisions. These conditions concern NBC network live streams, not every SNL viewing route. Read NBC’s live-stream requirements.
- Review location and network settings for an NBC location error. Check that the app has the relevant device location permission, and compare your current location with the location associated with your provider subscription. NBC also identifies VPN use, a network with a different access level, local affiliate availability, and provider disputes as possible factors. Changing a setting cannot make a stream available where it is not offered. NBC’s location-error help page outlines these checks.
- If only a past episode or segment is missing, check its availability window. It may have expired or be limited by rights, rather than indicating a general location problem.
- If you’re outside the United States, check authorized options for your country. Local distribution and catalogs vary, so confirm the current SNL listing with a legitimate service available where you’re watching. Without knowing your country, there is no reliable way to name a specific local platform.
Which viewing route should you check?
| Route | What the official information establishes | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Peacock | Its US-facing SNL page lists the show and advertises new episodes live on Saturdays at 11:30/10:30c. The cited page does not establish availability in every country. | Whether Peacock offers the exact episode in your location and whether it has been released. |
| NBC app or website live stream | NBC says network live streams require the viewer to be physically in the United States; a participating provider and local viewing-area eligibility may apply. | Your physical location, provider eligibility, billing-area match, app location permissions, and local stream availability. |
| TV-provider app | The information cited here does not establish availability or requirements for every provider’s app. | Whether your provider carries the channel or episode in your area and whether your subscription includes access. |
Why a Peacock subscription may not fix an NBC app error
NBC identifies Peacock as a separate streaming service, not a TV provider. If an NBC app asks you to authenticate through a participating TV provider, a Peacock account does not substitute for those credentials. Check the sign-in requirement for the specific app or stream you opened.
