Samsung does not use one ZIP code as a universal Samsung Account password or identity requirement. What to enter depends on where the field appears: a Samsung service may use postal-code or inferred-location data, checkout asks for the card’s billing ZIP, and order lookup may ask for the shipping or billing ZIP recorded on the order.
Why Samsung may ask for a ZIP or postal code
The field’s purpose depends on the screen. Samsung’s privacy policy says that, for certain services, “zip codes or postal codes and inferred locations using IP addresses may be transmitted to us when you use such Services.” That describes service-related location information; it does not establish a single ZIP code as a requirement for every Samsung Account.
A Samsung Account connects to multiple services—including Find My Mobile, Samsung Pay, Samsung Health, Galaxy Store and SmartThings—and service availability varies by country, according to the Samsung Account Google Play listing. The country or region associated with your account is a separate setting from an address ZIP code.

Why Samsung may say your ZIP code is wrong
At checkout: the ZIP may not match the card’s billing address
For the US card-payment flow, Samsung says the billing address must be in the contiguous United States. Enter the address and ZIP associated with the card, not a different shipping address. Samsung identifies a mismatch between the billing address and the address on file with the bank as a common reason for cancellation. Its cited US flow also automatically cancels orders with billing addresses outside the contiguous United States. See Samsung order help and Samsung payment guidance. These rules describe the cited US storefront and should not be assumed to apply identically to every country’s Samsung store.

In account or service settings: check country or region separately
A postal code and an account country are not interchangeable. Samsung says the country on your Samsung Account determines which services and features are available. To review it, go to account.samsung.com, then choose Profile > Edit personal information > Country or region. Samsung Canada’s guidance, current in 2026, says that after changing this setting you must wait 180 days before changing it again. A change may sign devices out and affect features, so check the consequences before proceeding. The waiting period is Samsung’s stated policy, not a ZIP-code rule.

How to troubleshoot the field you are seeing
- Identify the screen. Determine whether the prompt is in account or service settings, Samsung.com checkout, or order lookup; each uses location or address information for a different purpose.
- For a service or account prompt, check the Samsung Account country at account.samsung.com > Profile > Edit personal information > Country or region. Consider Samsung’s stated 180-day wait and possible device sign-outs before changing it.
- For checkout, enter the card’s billing ZIP and confirm that the full billing address matches the issuer’s records. Check the country and territory requirements for the storefront you are using.
- For a canceled US order, compare the billing address and ZIP entered at checkout with the bank’s address on file, and confirm that the billing address meets the contiguous-US rule for the cited flow.
- For order retrieval, enter the order ID and email, followed by the shipping ZIP, billing ZIP or phone number associated with the order.
