If you are trying to play an original Xbox game on a computer, you may mean xemu, which emulates original Xbox hardware. Its official project page lists Windows, macOS, and Linux as supported platforms: xemu. That does not mean xemu runs on a PS5 console.

Sony’s guidance about backward compatibility on PS5 describes supported PS4 games, not original Xbox games: PS5 backward compatibility. The phrase “PS5 emulator” could also mean software intended to emulate a PS5 on another device. The sources available here do not establish that such software provides a supported route for running original Xbox games. Identify the actual emulator and host device before treating this as a known compatibility problem.

Performance varies by host system and game
xemu says actual game performance varies with the characteristics of the host system and remains in flux: xemu project documentation. That is a general qualification, not a diagnosis of a particular computer, console, or game. The documentation does not provide a universal performance figure or establish that one hardware upgrade will resolve a slowdown.

There can be several causes of a game failing
xemu’s FAQ lists possible reasons a game may not work, including system issues, a corrupted cache, a bad disc dump, and compatibility regressions: xemu FAQ. A game that fails to boot, slows down, or displays corrupted audio or video may therefore need a different investigation; the symptom alone does not identify the cause.
Some problems are specific to individual titles
The xemu issue tracker contains reports of individual games running very slowly or in slow motion, as well as reports of audio and video glitches: xemu issue tracker. These are reports about particular cases, not evidence that all original Xbox games or all systems have the same problem. Check for the exact game and symptom rather than assuming a report applies to your setup.

- Emulator: its exact name and version.
- Host: the device, operating system, and relevant hardware.
- Settings: the emulator configuration you are using.
- Symptom: whether the game fails to boot, runs slowly or in slow motion, crashes, or has audio or video corruption—and when it happens.
Then consult the documentation and compatibility tracker for that emulator, focusing on the same game and symptom. Without these details, a specific setting change or hardware fix would be speculation.

What can—and cannot—be concluded
There is no single documented explanation for every slow or glitchy original Xbox game. For xemu, the official guidance supports the narrower conclusion that performance depends on the host system and can change, while its FAQ and issue tracker document multiple possible failure causes and title-specific reports.
That evidence does not establish that original Xbox games are supported inside a PS5 emulator, nor does it diagnose any one setup. Confirm whether you mean an original Xbox emulator on a supported computer platform or software that emulates a PS5, then use the exact game, emulator version, device, settings, and symptom to guide the next step.
