The timing—and the combination of AI-made advertising with gambling streams—became the focus of the reaction described in news reports.
What happened, and when?
| Date | Reported event |
|---|---|
| September 30, 2026 | 100 Thieves apologized for AI-assisted artwork in its RuneScape collaboration with Jagex. Sportskeeda dates the apology to this day; Insider Gaming reproduces the organization’s statement. |
| October 1, 2026 | Nadeshot posted a promotion for a week of Roobet streams alongside a video described by the reports as AI-generated. Insider Gaming reproduces the post wording and dates it to this day. |
| October 2, 2026 | Insider Gaming and Sportskeeda published accounts of the criticism and the sequence of events. |
The one-day gap linked two separate controversies in public discussion: an organization’s apology over AI in merchandise artwork, followed by its founder’s reported AI-assisted gambling promotion. The reports do not establish that 100 Thieves commissioned or approved the Roobet ad.

What was the 100 Thieves RuneScape merchandise issue?
The merchandise controversy concerned a 100 Thieves collaboration with Jagex, the company behind RuneScape. According to Sportskeeda, a designer used AI during a final-stage edit, and a sample went into production for a photoshoot. That account comes from the outlet’s reporting.

The quoted wording is as reported by Insider Gaming; the original statement was not independently verified here.

What did Nadeshot post?
Insider Gaming reports that Nadeshot posted on October 1 to promote a week of Roobet streams, with an accompanying video described as AI-generated. The outlet reproduced his message as: “Roobet’s biggest loser is back for a FULL WEEK. October’s trip is finally here and I’ll be live 8-10 hours a day for the next eight days. I’m on the worst run I’ve ever experienced. Last 4 months have been a massacre. That changes today. LIVE ON KICK NOW. @Roobet”
That description and quotation come from the report; the original post and video were not independently checked. The promotion was for gambling streams, not a statement about the merchandise collaboration.
Why were people criticizing the promotion?
- The timing: It appeared the day after 100 Thieves apologized for AI use in a design associated with its RuneScape merchandise collaboration. That sequence made the separate events seem contradictory to some viewers.
- AI and gambling in the same promotion: The reports describe criticism of an AI-generated video used to advertise casino streams. Insider Gaming reproduced comments including “I have lost so much respect for you, man” and “AI slop and getting your fans addicted to gambling. What a combo.”
Those comments are examples selected by the outlets, not evidence that criticism was universal or represented most followers. The reports do not quantify the post’s reach or measure audience opinion.

What is established—and what is not?
Insider Gaming and Sportskeeda both report the key sequence: the September 30 apology, the October 1 Roobet promotion, and criticism focused on their proximity and the ad’s reported AI-generated video. They are secondary news reports. The original social post, video, and official apology were not independently opened for this account, so their wording and details are attributed to those outlets rather than presented as direct verification.

The available reporting also does not establish that 100 Thieves or Jagex had any role in the Roobet promotion. The apparent conflict is between the organization’s reported position on AI in apparel design and a separate promotion attributed to Nadeshot—not proof that the organization approved or produced the ad.
