Kylie Kelce apologized after learning that her podcast invitation to Catherine, Princess of Wales, had used a form of address she understood to be offensive. Kelce said she would use “Princess Catherine” or “the Princess of Wales” instead. The reports do not establish that the Princess personally asked for an apology.
What did Kylie Kelce say?
On September 24, 2026, Kelce invited the Princess of Wales to join her podcast, Not Gonna Lie. The invitation referred to the Princess as both “Princess Kate” and “Duchess of Cambridge.” Kelce later addressed the wording on an October 1 episode.
Why did she apologize?
Kelce said she had not known that calling Catherine “Princess Kate” was considered offensive. In her October 1 remarks, she said: “I love learning, so I was unaware that calling Princess Catherine, Princess Kate was offensive. I didn’t know that. Now I know that. Now I will proceed accordingly. I apologize for the mistake. I would like to refer to people in the most respectful way and how they feel respected.” The wording is attributed to Kelce in secondary reporting, not an independently verified transcript.
She added: “Princess Catherine or the Princess of Wales, I apologize. I will get that sorted immediately starting now.” The issue described in the coverage was how to address the Princess, rather than a documented dispute between the two women.
What form of address did Kelce say she would use?
Kelce said she would use “Princess Catherine” or “the Princess of Wales.” The coverage identifies Catherine, Princess of Wales, as the formal style and notes that “Duchess of Cambridge,” used in the invitation, was out of date in this context. It also notes that the public commonly knows her as Kate Middleton; that does not establish that every use of “Kate” is unwelcome.
