If you’re looking for Celebi inside a FireRed or LeafGreen save file, you may be checking the wrong place. The currently documented reward is a Celebi gift in the mobile version of Pokémon HOME for completing the Pokédex in either game—not a gift delivered into the game itself. Pokémon’s announcement says HOME can register Pokémon already recorded in the game’s Pokédex after the game is connected, without transferring those Pokémon to HOME. Read Pokémon’s announcement.
Where the documented Celebi reward appears
The announced reward is received through Mystery Gifts in the mobile Pokémon HOME app. Its eligibility condition is completing the Pokédex in Pokémon FireRed Version or Pokémon LeafGreen Version and connecting the game with HOME. Pokémon’s announcement does not describe Celebi as an item or Pokémon delivered to the FireRed or LeafGreen save file. Pokémon’s announcement

Pokémon HOME can register Pokémon already registered in the game’s Pokédex once connected; the announcement says you do not have to transfer those Pokémon into HOME for that Pokédex registration. So if you expected to find Celebi by opening the game, check the mobile HOME app instead.
What to check if the HOME gift is missing
- Confirm the Pokédex is complete in the intended game. The documented reward requires completion of the FireRed or LeafGreen Pokédex.
- Connect that game to Pokémon HOME. The announcement ties Pokédex registration to connecting the game with HOME; it does not say that transferring the Pokémon is required.
- Open Mystery Gifts in the mobile Pokémon HOME app. The reward’s stated destination is mobile HOME, not the game save.
The announcement does not publish detailed account, region, or synchronization troubleshooting steps, so it cannot establish that a particular refresh, relink, or other action will fix a missing reward. If you have met the stated condition and still cannot see the gift, consult Pokémon HOME’s official support channels for account-specific help.

HOME transfer support is not delivery back into the game
Nintendo’s FAQ says Pokémon can be transferred from the Switch versions of FireRed and LeafGreen to Pokémon HOME. That is a transfer from the games to HOME; it does not say HOME can send the Celebi reward back into a FireRed or LeafGreen save. Nintendo’s FireRed and LeafGreen FAQ
Nintendo also says the Switch releases broadly preserve the original games’ content and use built-in local wireless for connectivity features that previously relied on Game Boy Advance link hardware. That wireless feature is separate from the HOME reward and is not a fix for a missing gift.

What if you mean a separate in-game Celebi event?
The official materials cited here establish the HOME Pokédex-completion reward, but do not confirm a currently active Celebi Mystery Gift distributed directly into FireRed or LeafGreen. They also do not prove that no such distribution exists; they simply do not document one. Pokémon’s general Mystery Gift instructions for other game families, including 3DS games, do not provide a FireRed/LeafGreen Celebi procedure. Pokémon’s general Mystery Gift support article

Accordingly, don’t treat a generic Mystery Gift menu guide—or HOME’s transfer compatibility—as evidence that an in-game Celebi event is available. If your goal is the documented reward, check mobile HOME after meeting its Pokédex requirement.

FireRed and LeafGreen on Switch
Nintendo describes these Switch editions as digital-only, with no physical release. It also identifies built-in local wireless as the way their connectivity features work on Switch; an original Game Boy Advance Wireless Adapter is not the stated connectivity method for these releases. Neither buying an accessory nor using local wireless changes the destination of the HOME Celebi reward. Nintendo’s FAQ
