Channel verification does not by itself unlock YouTube live streaming. YouTube also requires that the channel have no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days; age, the streaming method, policy actions, feature access and daily limits can matter too. Start by checking the channel’s status and exact notice in YouTube Studio, then follow the checks below before troubleshooting your camera or encoder.
First, identify what “locked” means
The right fix depends on where the problem appears. If you cannot find or enable Go Live, check feature eligibility and account restrictions. If YouTube displays an eligibility message when you try to start, use that message and the channel’s status to identify the unmet requirement. If a broadcast starts and is then interrupted, investigate stream-specific policy or copyright issues instead. These are different problems, and replacing streaming equipment will not resolve an account-access restriction.
Check live-stream eligibility in YouTube Studio
- On a computer, open YouTube Studio > Settings > Channel > Feature eligibility.
- Look at the status of the live-streaming feature and any separate eligibility requirements or daily limits shown for the channel.
- Check account standing and Studio notifications for a live-stream restriction, strike, removal notice or instructions to appeal.
- Read any email from YouTube about the restriction and follow the account-specific instructions. The cause and available appeal route depend on the notice.
YouTube Help says a channel must be verified and have no live-stream restrictions in the past 90 days. Its live-stream setup guidance also gives a minimum age of 16. Meeting those requirements does not guarantee immediate access: other eligibility checks and limits may apply.
Check whether the streaming method adds a requirement
The mobile app has an additional subscriber threshold; it is not a universal requirement for all ways of streaming.

| Streaming method | What to check |
|---|---|
| Computer, webcam or encoder | Channel verification, age and whether the channel has had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. Check the feature status and notice in Studio. |
| YouTube mobile app | The same general eligibility checks, plus at least 50 subscribers for mobile live streaming, as described in YouTube’s mobile live-streaming guidance. |
Look for policy actions or a live-stream strike
A channel may appear verified while live access is restricted because of a policy action. YouTube identifies possible causes that include Community Guidelines actions, live-stream removals, matching another copyrighted live broadcast, certain streams featuring minors, suggested future violations, and a significant number of videos with features disabled. Restrictions can be temporary or permanent; check the Studio notice rather than guessing from the channel’s verification badge.
YouTube Help states: “A strike will prevent you from live streaming for 14 days.” That is the stated live-stream penalty for a strike. YouTube also says a strike on an active or archived live stream may disable live access. Review the channel’s account standing and the specific strike or restriction notice for the applicable next step.

If the stream starts and then gets interrupted
An interrupted broadcast is not necessarily an eligibility lock. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it identifies a match and the content continues, it may replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it or terminate it. Check Studio for the stream-specific notice and any strike.
If you have permission to use matched content, that alone may not prevent an interruption: YouTube says the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Follow the instructions in the notice and resolve the listed issue; do not assume that the absence of a visible copyright strike means there is no live restriction.

Check activation timing and daily limits
- First-time activation: YouTube Help Community guidance says enabling live streaming for the first time may take up to 24 hours. Treat this as a possible delay, not a guaranteed activation time; check the current Studio status and any official notice.
- Daily stream limit: YouTube says reaching the daily limit for creating live streams can prevent additional streams until 24 hours later. Feature access may also have daily limits. Check the message shown for your account before trying again.
What to do if Studio shows no restriction
If the visible eligibility checks are clear but live streaming remains unavailable, use the feedback or support route available to your account and include the exact error message. Support availability varies, so a particular support option or restoration time cannot be assumed. Do not try to bypass a restriction by streaming through another channel: YouTube classifies that as circumvention, which may lead to account termination.

Cloud streaming can keep an eligible YouTube channel broadcasting uploaded video without leaving a computer on, but it cannot unlock a channel YouTube has restricted. StreamNeo is a YouTube-only service for playing uploaded videos as a continuous live stream; it does not stream from a camera.
