These are separate settings, and the right fix depends on your Vizio model and the source you’re watching.
Is it the program, the menus, or the TV’s narration?
Listen for when the Spanish speech occurs. Spanish throughout a program usually points to an audio track or broadcast setting. Speech that announces menu movements or setting changes points to Talk Back, Vizio’s text-to-speech accessibility feature. If the words on screen—not just the sound—are Spanish, the on-screen display (OSD) language is the setting to change.

Also note where the issue occurs: on an antenna or cable channel, in one streaming app, or through an HDMI-connected device. That distinction tells you which device’s audio controls to check.

If a TV channel’s program audio is Spanish
Digital channels: choose an available audio track
On the V-Series interface documented in Vizio’s 2022 V-Series User Manual, open Menu > TV Channels > Digital Audio while tuned to the channel. Select the desired available language or audio option. What you can choose depends on the broadcast; changing the setting cannot add an English track the program does not provide.

Analog channels: check SAP
For an analog channel on that documented V-Series interface, open Menu > TV Channels > Analog Audio and choose Stereo instead of SAP if you do not want the alternate audio. SAP means Secondary Audio Programming, commonly used for alternate-language audio.
Vizio’s 2022 V-Series User Manual explains: “The TV’s Analog Audio feature allows you to listen to audio in an alternate language using Secondary Audio Programming (SAP).” It also cautions: “The Analog Audio Language feature only works when the program being viewed is being broadcast with Secondary Audio Programming.” In other words, SAP is not a universal language switch; it only works when the station transmits that service.

Older Vizio models may use different labels
Do not assume every Vizio has the same menu names. The legacy E43C2 manual calls the digital-channel setting Digital Language and places the channel controls in the Channels menu; it distinguishes that digital control from Analog Audio for analog channels. Compare the labels for these documented models:

The paths above come from Vizio’s 2022 V-Series manual and E43C2 manual; they are examples, not a universal path for every generation. Find the exact model number on the TV’s label or in its system information, then use the model-specific manual from Vizio Support.

If the TV reads settings aloud
When narration happens as you move through settings or the TV announces changes, open Menu > Accessibility and switch off Talk Back, using the labels available on your model. Vizio describes Talk Back as text-to-speech for TV setting changes on its Accessibility page.
Some remotes offer shortcuts, but they depend on the remote model: supported voice remotes may accept “Disable Talk Back,” while remotes with a PIC button can toggle text-to-speech by holding PIC for five seconds. Use a shortcut only if your remote has the relevant capability; otherwise use the Accessibility menu.

If the menus themselves are in Spanish
Change the TV’s OSD or menu language rather than the program audio. The available languages and menu path vary by model, so use the exact model’s manual. For example, Vizio’s support information for the M43Q6M-K04 lists English, Spanish, and French as OSD language choices; that list should not be assumed for every Vizio television.

Open the audio or language controls in the app or connected device while the program is playing, and select another available track. If the issue is confined to one streaming app, that app is the most relevant place to check. If it is confined to an HDMI source, check the source device’s controls. Vizio’s tuner instructions do not establish one universal menu path for third-party apps or attached devices, so the TV’s channel settings may not affect them.

Quick troubleshooting checklist
- Speech while navigating menus: check Accessibility > Talk Back.
- Spanish on an antenna or cable program: check Digital Audio for a digital channel or Analog Audio/SAP for an analog channel, following the menu labels for your model.
- Spanish in one app or HDMI source: check that app or device’s playback audio-track controls.
- Spanish menu labels: find the model-specific OSD language option in the TV manual.
Start with the setting that matches what you hear or see. The official instructions cited here do not indicate that a factory reset is necessary for a language selection issue.
