If your podcast livestream ends by itself in YouTube Studio, there is no single cause established by the information in the question—and YouTube’s general help guidance does not establish an India-specific rule that ends podcast streams. If you stream through an encoder, start by checking the event’s Auto-stop setting, whether the encoder stopped sending, the exact Stream health message, and your upload connection. First establish whether the live event ended or only its archive is missing.
First identify what “ending” means
YouTube supports more than one way to stream, so the encoder checks below apply when you use streaming software or hardware. If you start from a webcam or mobile workflow instead, the relevant controls and status information may differ; do not assume an encoder caused the problem.
- The live event ends: viewers can no longer watch the live stream. Check the event controls, encoder state, and Stream health.
- The live event continues, but the recording is missing or incomplete: investigate the archive separately. An archive problem alone does not show what stopped the live event.
Note the time it ends, whether it happens at a consistent point, whether the encoder still indicates that it is sending, and the exact message shown in Live Control Room. Those details help distinguish a setting, encoder, or connection issue.
Check these causes in order
1. Inspect Auto-stop and reused stream settings
YouTube documents Auto-start and Auto-stop settings for streams. Reusing stream settings copies the previous selections, so a setting carried over from an older event is worth checking if you reused one.

- Open the event in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room.
- Inspect the current Auto-stop setting and determine whether it is enabled.
- If you reused stream settings, check whether the prior event’s selection was carried forward. Change the setting only if it does not match how you intend to run this event.
Auto-stop is a possible setting to investigate, not proof that it caused a particular stream to end.
2. Find out whether Studio or the encoder stopped first
YouTube’s documented encoder end procedure is to click End Stream in Live Control Room and stop sending content from the encoder. If the stream ended without your deliberate action, establish which side stopped first: did the event end in Studio while the encoder was still sending, or did the encoder stop sending before the event ended?

- Check whether the encoder still shows an active send or output when the event ends.
- Review the encoder’s status or logs around the end time, if available.
- Compare the encoder status with the Live Control Room event status. Avoid changing several settings at once before capturing the evidence.
3. Record the exact Stream health message
Live Control Room’s stream-health area can show status messages and instructions. Capture the exact text, along with the time it appeared, before changing settings or restarting. A specific message is more useful for a case-level diagnosis than the fact that the event stopped by itself.
4. Check upload capacity and connection reliability
Your available outbound upload capacity must support the configured stream bitrate and any other simultaneous uploads or streams. YouTube’s general streaming guidance recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. This is setup guidance, not evidence that network trouble caused your particular interruption.

- Check the encoder’s configured bitrate against the upload capacity available while the stream is running.
- Account for other devices or applications using the same connection.
- Look for connection interruptions around the time of the stop. YouTube notes that a network disruption can break a stream.
5. If the encoder reports a start error, follow the matching support route
If an encoder start error appears, YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance suggests getting a new stream key. If third-party software signs in to YouTube without using a stream key, YouTube directs users to that software’s support. Use the route that matches the error; do not rotate a key or change software just because the stream ended without a visible diagnosis.
Separate a live-stream stop from an archive problem
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. That duration guidance concerns whether the recording is captured; a missing or truncated archive does not, by itself, prove that the live event was stopped by the same issue. If keeping a recording matters, make a local recording as a separate backup.

A practical troubleshooting checklist
- Write down whether the live event ended or only the archive is missing.
- Record when it ended, how long it had been live, and whether the timing repeats across sessions.
- Check Auto-stop, especially if the event reused settings from an older stream.
- Capture the Stream health status and exact error message.
- Check whether the encoder was still sending and review its status at the time of the interruption.
- Compare upload capacity with the configured bitrate and other network use; look for connection disruptions.
- If a clear encoder error appears, follow the relevant YouTube or encoder-software support path.
- Keep a local recording if you need a backup; it will not keep the live stream running.
Or let it run in the cloud
