First, identify what “feed” means. IBM Video Streaming’s documented encoder workflow sends a live stream into an IBM channel using an RTMP or RTMPS address and stream key; that documentation does not establish that IBM automatically sends the channel’s feed onward to YouTube. If IBM shows the stream but YouTube does not, check the separately configured YouTube destination or integration rather than assuming IBM-to-YouTube syndication is enabled.
Start by identifying where the feed is supposed to go
A “feed” can mean a live broadcast, an IBM playlist or channel listing, an embedded IBM player, or a route that sends content from IBM to YouTube. Those are different workflows. IBM’s broadcast settings documentation describes a third-party encoder sending video to an IBM channel, not an automatic outbound YouTube feed. The account’s enabled integrations and intended routing are not known, so first establish which system is meant to send the video to YouTube.
- Encoder to IBM: The encoder sends video to an IBM channel. Check whether IBM itself receives and plays the live broadcast.
- Encoder to YouTube: YouTube is configured as a destination in the encoder or another authorized workflow. Check that destination separately.
- IBM playlist or channel page: The issue may be publication or scheduling visibility on IBM, not a YouTube feed.
- IBM player embedded on a page: An embedded player’s visibility is distinct from whether YouTube receives a broadcast.
IBM’s official Broadcast Settings guide covers encoder ingest to IBM, including RTMP/RTMPS settings. It does not by itself confirm an outbound IBM-to-YouTube integration for your account.
Check whether IBM is receiving the live broadcast
Verify the selected channel and encoder credentials
If the encoder is meant to send the stream into IBM, open the intended IBM channel’s Broadcast Settings and compare its current server URL and stream key with the destination configured in the encoder. A URL or key for a different channel, or an outdated or invalid key, can prevent IBM ingest. This check diagnoses the encoder-to-IBM leg; it does not establish why a separately configured YouTube destination is missing.

- Confirm the encoder is pointed at the intended IBM channel’s current RTMP or RTMPS server URL.
- Confirm the matching stream key is entered in the encoder, without exposing it in screenshots or messages.
- Start the encoder and check whether IBM shows an active broadcast and whether the IBM player displays it.
Treat the stream key as a private credential. Do not post it publicly or send it through an unsecured support message.
Use IBM’s monitoring tools
IBM documents a Live Monitoring and Troubleshooting tool in its dashboard for examining broadcast performance, viewer activity, channel configuration, and platform health. If “feed” means an IBM playlist or channel listing
Playlist scheduling and ordinary playlist visibility are separate. IBM says a scheduled playlist is not shown to viewers before its broadcast. If you expect it to appear as a regular playlist on an IBM channel page, check whether it is published and whether the channel-page or embed visibility settings are enabled. A scheduled playlist may need to be unscheduled and published to appear as a regular listing. Only manual playlists can go live.
IBM also notes that playlist scheduling may show “Please initiate a test broadcast” when the channel has not yet had a genuine encoder-based live broadcast. This applies to IBM playlist scheduling, not as a general explanation for a missing YouTube stream. See IBM’s Playlist Overview.

Check for a service issue, then escalate with useful evidence
- Check IBM Live Monitoring for the affected channel.
- Check the IBM Video Streaming Status page for a posted service interruption.
- If IBM appears to receive the stream but YouTube does not, verify the independently configured YouTube destination or ask its integration owner to check that route. Public IBM guidance cited here does not establish which YouTube routing method or account capability you have.
- If the route is configured correctly or the failure remains unclear, contact IBM support with the channel or video identifier, approximate time and time zone, screenshots, exact error text, encoder name and version, and whether the IBM player shows the live stream. Do not include your stream key in an unsecured message.
