Did people call Death Stranding a walking simulator without playing it?

Why online discussion can harden an opinion early

Should you try Death Stranding if you dismissed it as a walking simulator?
If your opinion came from trailers or clips rather than play, the only reliable way to test the label is to play enough of the game to encounter its complete systems and pacing. Sony lists Death Stranding Director’s Cut for PS5 in standard and digital deluxe editions, and separately lists a PS4 edition of Death Stranding. Sony’s listed PS5 Director’s Cut release date is September 24, 2021.
- Choose the edition available for your console and region.
- Play beyond the opening sequences so that traversal, delivery planning and environmental hazards are part of your judgment.
- Decide whether the deliberate pace serves the larger experience rather than evaluating the game from a single clip.
You may still dislike the game after playing it. Kojima’s argument is narrower: a verdict is more informed when it follows direct experience.
