Her reasoning is creative rather than financial: a larger spend could add effects the story does not need, while authenticity depends on the period world as much as on its characters. The sequel’s budget has not been confirmed as final.
What Anupriya Nagar said about the sequel’s budget
In remarks attributed to a Dainik Bhaskar interview, Nagar said her default is to make the second film on a budget similar to the first. As quoted by Hindustan Times, she cautioned that investing ₹10 crore or ₹20 crore would not automatically make the film better and could lead to unnecessary VFX or AI that affects its authenticity. Those amounts were examples in her explanation, not proposed or confirmed sequel budgets.

The decision is conditional, not a firm cap. Nagar also said the budget could increase if the next story genuinely requires it. The reports do not establish a final budget or production schedule.
Why she puts authenticity ahead of a larger spend
Nagar’s concern is how the film represents its historical world. She has described the landscape, visual texture, atmosphere and setting as important alongside the characters. In that view, spending more is not a creative goal in itself: additional effects or AI could be unnecessary if they do not serve the story.
The distinction is between spending that helps tell the next story and spending added simply because the first film succeeded. Nagar says the former could justify a higher budget; the latter does not guarantee a better film.
What the first film’s reported success tells us—and what it doesn’t
Hanuman Ansh is a biographical film about Neem Karoli Baba. Hindustan Times and India Today describe it as following Lakshmi Narayan’s early life and transformation, with Vishal Chaturvedi directing and Shobhinaw Satyaa and Chandan Anand among the leads.

Hindustan Times reported a ₹2 crore budget, a ₹10 lakh first-day collection, ₹414 crore worldwide and more than ₹300 crore net in India, as well as a theatrical run exceeding 50 days. These are figures reported by the outlet, not independently audited totals established here. India Today also reported the ₹2 crore budget and ₹10 lakh opening-day collection. The success provides context for questions about a larger sequel budget, but Nagar’s explanation is that the next film’s needs—not the first film’s reported earnings alone—should determine it.
