Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →If your YouTube lofi radio stream loses audio after a few hours, the elapsed time alone does not reveal the cause—or prove YouTube imposed a time limit. Find where the sound disappears by comparing the music source, your encoder’s audio meter, a local recording, YouTube’s stream-health messages, and what viewers hear. That sequence helps separate a stopped source or audio-routing fault from an encoder, ingest, connection, or viewer-side problem.
First, locate where the audio disappears
At the next cutoff, note the time and check the same moment in each place you can access. YouTube recommends checking the stream in the encoder and reviewing a local archive for audio or video problems. The pattern is more useful than the duration by itself.

| What you observe | What to check next |
|---|---|
| The source app stops playing, or its encoder input meter goes flat | Check the playback application, audio capture or routing, selected playback device, and whether power or sleep behavior interrupted playback. These are diagnostic possibilities, not an established cause for every lofi stream. |
| The source plays, but the encoder’s input meter goes flat | Inspect the audio capture source, route, and selected device in the encoder. Confirm the source is still assigned to the mix being streamed. |
| The encoder meter moves, but the local archive and broadcast are silent | Check the selected audio output or mix, encoder logs, and YouTube Live Control Room health messages. Verify the outgoing stream has one supported audio stream and no more than two audio channels. |
| The encoder and local archive have sound, but viewers report silence | Check timestamped YouTube health messages and connection indicators. Ask whether the issue affects one viewer, viewers sharing a network, or viewers on separate networks. |
Reports from one viewer may point to that viewer’s device; reports from viewers sharing a connection may point to a local network issue. If viewers on different networks report the same disruption, investigate the encoder and stream path as well.
Match the cutoff time to YouTube’s stream-health messages
In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room or Live Dashboard, compare the failure time with the health indicator. YouTube displays errors beside the indicator and timestamps them; unresolved issues remain visible. Look for messages about no audio stream, multiple audio streams, an unsupported audio codec, incorrect audio bitrate or sample rate, or too many channels.

YouTube’s detailed error guidance names AAC and MP3 as supported audio codecs and recommends 128 Kbps audio bitrate and a 44.1 kHz sample rate in the relevant error context. Those figures are troubleshooting targets from that Help page, not proof that bitrate or sample rate caused a cutoff when no matching warning appears. Follow the specific message for your stream and check your encoder’s current output settings.
YouTube’s Live Streaming API health labels include noAudioStream, multipleAudioStreams, audioCodec, audio bitrate, sample-rate and channel issues, and primary/backup mismatch categories. Treat a label as a clue about the reported stream condition; do not change unrelated settings without an observed error.

If the encoder and archive are healthy, check the connection
A healthy local output alongside viewer-side disruption shifts attention to the connection or delivery path. Check the encoder’s dropped-frame and connection indicators, then compare their timing with the reports and YouTube health messages. A speed test can help, but stable upload capacity during the stream matters more than a best-case result.
OBS explains that dropped frames indicate an unstable remote connection or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain; enough dropped frames can disconnect a stream. Its connection guide, dated 2024-09-30, suggests trying a lower video bitrate that the service supports and the connection can sustain. Change one variable at a time so you can tell whether it helped.

- PLUG IN AND HEAR SOUND IN SECONDS - USB Type-A connector with a 3.5mm stereo headphone output and a separate 3.5mm mono microphone input. No drivers, no software, no external power - the adapter is USB bus-powered and is recognized as a standard USB audio device.
- WORKS ON WINDOWS, MAC AND LINUX - Driverless on Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8, Linux and Mac OSX, and compliant with the USB Audio Device Class 1.0 specification, so any system that supports class-compliant USB audio will see it. Select it as the sound output and input device after plugging it in.
- TWO JACKS, TWO JOBS - The green jack is stereo OUT for headphones or powered speakers; the pink jack is mono microphone IN for a 3.5mm mic. It does NOT support 4-pole headsets on a single combo plug, it does NOT power passive speakers, and it does NOT add surround sound - it is a stereo 2-channel adapter.
- FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.
- SABRENT SUPPORT AND WARRANTY - What is in the box: one USB audio sound adapter. Backed by a 1-year limited warranty, extended to 2 years when you register within 90 days on the manufacturer's website.
- If you are streaming over Wi-Fi, try a wired connection. An ethernet cable for a streaming computer is a reasonable test, not a fix for a stopped source or incorrect audio mix.
- Check the router or modem connection, network drivers, cable and other network equipment.
- Consider whether VPN or security software could be interfering with the connection.
- If problems persist after local checks, contact your ISP; congestion or routing changes may be outside your control.
OBS notes that it is “extremely unlikely for OBS Studio to cause dropped frames.” That statement concerns dropped frames specifically; it does not rule out an audio-source, routing, or configuration problem.
Run a representative test before the next long stream
YouTube advises testing with audio and video movement similar to what you plan to stream, and monitoring stream health during the event. For a lofi radio stream, test the actual playback source, encoder mix, stream settings, and connection you will use. Keep the encoder meter and a local recording available, and note the time if the sound fails so you can match it against health messages.

- Begin a test stream and verify audio in YouTube’s preview and, if available, a local archive.
- Watch the Live Control Room health indicator and the encoder’s connection or dropped-frame status.
- If there is an error, record its wording and timestamp before changing settings; correct the issue it identifies, then test again.
If the output and archive look healthy but the cause remains unclear, YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance says to try streaming with a different encoder after checking the current output and archive. Treat that as a controlled comparison: change the encoder, not several other variables at once.
