If your 24/7 Indian music YouTube stream is silent, trace the audio from the music source through your encoder to YouTube. Check whether the music is playing, whether the encoder captures the correct source, and whether YouTube reports receiving audio. The title alone doesn’t reveal whether you use OBS, another encoder, or a cloud service, so start with the signal path rather than assuming a particular device has failed.
First, identify where the sound disappears
Check the stream as a viewer and note whether it is still live, whether the video looks normal, and when the silence began. Ask whether sound is missing for everyone, for viewers on one network, or only for one person. Those details help separate a source or encoder problem from a delivery or playback issue.

Follow the audio through these checkpoints: the music source, the encoder’s input and output, any local recording, and YouTube playback. A signal meter that moves confirms audio reaches that point in the path; it does not prove YouTube is receiving it.

- Sound is absent at the source: check the file, application, playlist, or external device that supplies the music.
- The source plays, but the encoder shows no signal: inspect the selected capture source, device, mute state, and volume controls.
- The encoder output and local recording sound right, but YouTube playback is silent: check YouTube’s stream-health messages and outbound connectivity.
- Only one viewer hears silence: that viewer should check their playback device, browser or app, and connection.
For an ongoing playlist, note whether silence begins at a repeat, track change, or restart. The timing is a useful clue, but does not by itself establish the cause.

Check the music source and encoder
Confirm the source is actually producing audio
Play the relevant file or application locally, or check the external device feeding the encoder. Verify that the playlist has not ended, paused, or switched to a silent item. Check the application’s own volume as well as the operating system’s volume mixer; a device can play sound locally while its output is routed somewhere the encoder does not capture.
If you use OBS, check the correct source and meter
OBS captures desktop audio and a microphone by default, but those defaults may not match a 24/7 music setup. In the OBS audio mixer, watch the meter for the specific source carrying the music while it should be playing. Confirm that the source is present and active, the meter responds, and the source is neither muted nor at zero volume. OBS recommends checking meters and selecting devices manually under Settings → Audio if the wrong device is selected or the meters do not move. See the OBS Quick Start Guide.

Find the source that actually carries the music: it may be desktop audio, an application, an audio input or output capture source, or a media source. OBS media sources can play files, and VLC playlists are available if VLC is installed. An audio input/output capture source captures its chosen device only while that source is active. OBS’s Sources Guide and Audio Sources guide explain these source types.
Trace the path through the application, operating system, and OBS. Check the source’s volume and mute state, then the OBS mixer fader and mute button. If you monitor audio in OBS, listen there to check what is audible at the encoder stage. OBS warns that selecting the same device both as a scene source and globally under Settings → Audio can cause echo.

Check left and right channels if only one mixer meter moves. OBS assigns stereo channels separately, so a source present on just one channel may be heard only on the corresponding side.
Make a local recording
Record a short sample and listen to it before changing several settings at once. OBS recommends a test before streaming. If the recording is silent or distorted, focus on the source and encoder path; if it sounds healthy but YouTube playback does not, investigate stream health and delivery instead. YouTube likewise recommends checking the encoder’s picture and sound, encoder errors and CPU load, and a local archive. Read YouTube’s audio health warning
Check the stream’s health information in YouTube Studio or the Live Control Room. Use the warning shown to guide the correction rather than changing audio settings speculatively. YouTube’s Live Streaming API documents warnings for missing audio, audio codec, bitrate, sample rate, channel count, and multiple audio streams. For its audio-codec issue, the documented supported codecs are AAC and MP3. The required number of audio streams is exactly one.
The API’s noAudioStream message says: “The ingestion stream does not contain any audio streams, but it must contain exactly one audio stream.” If you see it, check whether your encoder is sending an audio stream at all. Check whether the problem is delivery, playback, or copyright
Compare reports from viewers
If your encoder meters and local recording indicate healthy audio, compare what different viewers experience. A problem affecting one viewer points toward their playback device, browser or app, or connection. Reports from many viewers on one network differ from reports across separate networks; YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance advises distinguishing those cases. If viewers on different networks cannot hear audio despite a healthy encoder output, inspect encoder and Live Control Room errors and test the outbound connection.
Inspect Studio if the stream stopped or changed
If the stream ended, was interrupted, or changed to a placeholder image, review YouTube Studio for copyright or Community Guidelines notices. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches; identified content can lead to a placeholder, interruption, or termination. Its policy describes those continuity actions, not ordinary muting of a stream that otherwise continues normally.
A license alone may not prevent a live-stream interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. If you use licensed third-party music, check allowlisting with the rights holder. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
A step-by-step recovery and retest
- Record the symptom: note whether the stream remains live, whether video is normal, who can hear it, and when silence started.
- Test the source: play the file or application, check the playlist or external device, and confirm its output is routed as expected.
- Check the encoder: in OBS, inspect the relevant mixer meter, source selection, device selection, mute state, and fader. Use Settings → Audio to review device choices if needed.
- Listen to the encoder path: use OBS audio monitoring if available and make a short local recording. Identify whether silence appears before or after the encoder output.
- Read YouTube’s health message: address the reported missing stream, codec, bitrate, sample-rate, channel-count, or multiple-stream issue.
- Compare viewer reports: determine whether the silence affects one person, viewers on one network, or viewers across networks. If the encoder output is healthy and the issue is widespread, investigate outbound connectivity and encoder errors.
- Check Studio notices: if the stream stopped or became a placeholder, look for copyright or Community Guidelines notices and confirm Content ID allowlisting with the rights holder when applicable.
- Retest: record and listen to a normal session, then verify the live stream through viewer playback. Change one thing at a time and note which change resolves the fault.
