What does Crimson Desert’s 77 Metascore mean?
Metacritic listed a 77 critic Metascore from 115 reviews on October 9, 2026, and categorized it as “Generally Favorable.” The same page showed an 8.8 user score from 13,492 ratings. These are dated snapshots of separate groups and scoring systems; live totals and scores can change. Metacritic’s Crimson Desert page also has platform-specific aggregates, so the 77 should not be treated as the score for every platform version.

The critic aggregate compresses individual reviews into one number. Metacritic’s page also showed positive, mixed, and negative critic-review proportions, which means the aggregate does not imply every reviewer reached the same judgment. The user score reflects user ratings, not a directly interchangeable critic measure.
What did Pearl Abyss say about the review process?
In an interview reported by The Game Business, Pearl Abyss European CEO Lybee Park said critics played a build that was not identical to the launch version and had limited time. She argued that reviewers following the main story might miss optional details distributed throughout the game world, which she described as part of its “unique charm.” Park said she was unsure critics had a fair chance to explore those details during the review period. The Game Business report attributes that view to Park.

That statement gives Pearl Abyss’s perspective on the review window; it does not establish that all critics had the same experience, that individual reviews overlooked particular content, or that the review process caused the 77. Sales figures likewise cannot determine whether critics’ assessments were right or wrong.
How many copies of Crimson Desert have sold?
Pearl Abyss announced on June 11, 2026, that Crimson Desert had surpassed six million copies sold worldwide, 83 days after launch. The company had announced more than five million worldwide sales on May 6, 2026, providing an earlier milestone in the sales trajectory. These are company-announced totals, not independently detailed platform breakdowns. Pearl Abyss’s June 11 announcement also cited Circana data ranking the game No. 2 in 2026 year-to-date U.S. video-game sales. That U.S. ranking is distinct from the worldwide copy total.

The figures can coexist without contradiction: Metascore summarizes critics’ evaluations, while sales report how many copies the company says it sold. Strong sales show commercial demand; they do not validate or overturn a review score. Similarly, the score does not establish why millions of people bought the game.
